Last season the Association had 66 sides from 14 Clubs. Congratulations to all the Premiers and Runners-Up and to the individual trophy winners. Thank You to our Secretary Michael Mooney for all his assistance throughout the season. It’s a hard job and Michael did an exemplary job. A big thank you to Allan Lofthouse who kept the Association results. Some captains need to ensure their results are entered correctly and on time to make Allan’s job easier, but he did a sterling job with that hindrance. Thanks to Lance Taylor for ensuring the Association is financially secure and thanks to our Vice-Presidents Dean Martin and Adrian Stefani for their help and guidance throughout the year and to all the other members of the Executive my sincere thanks for all your efforts over the past season. My thanks to the Junior Association and the Grade Club for their continued support. I must express my thanks to Dave Robinson President of the Sutherland Shire Cricket Umpires Association and Lance Taylor the umpires delegate for their co-operation and support during the season. This season we entered a Martin and Telegraph Shield team for the NSWDCA representative season and they performed very well with the Martin Shield team being eliminated in the quarter final and the Telegraph Shield team winning defeating Blacktown in the final at Glenn McGrath Oval – well done boys. Last but not least my thanks to Sutherland Shire Council for their assistance with the grounds during the season, especially Kellie, Anne and Emi in the Sports Services Unit. In conclusion, I hope you enjoy the off season and I hope to see you all back for season 2017/18 Noel Taplin President SECRETARYS REPORT Having had the opportunity to read the reports of Noel Taplin and Allan Lofthouse. These reports are comprehensive and there are only a couple of things I would like to add regarding the season just completed and the future. Thank you for the work put in by all committee members to ensure that the SSCA competitions are run smoothly for the benefit of all players. Your commitment and contributions are very much appreciated. Once again there were some minor disruptions while Council carried out necessary ground improvements as part of the ongoing 5 year plan in conjunction with the SSJCA and Sutherland Council. We are in ongoing discussions with Sutherland Council, the Grade Club and the SSJCA regarding upgrading of grounds & wickets for 2018 and beyond. There will be significant changes for cricket in the Shire in the new season with the introduction of the Laws of Cricket 2017 Code, changeover to MyCricket for registrations and match recording and the possibility of changing some of the formats for men’s cricket. Thank you to our major sponsor Kookaburra, to Sutherland Council for their on-going support of cricket in the Shire. Special thanks to Tom Croucher for assistance with Cricket On-Line and liaison with Council. Congratulations to all premiership winning teams and individual award winners for the season. • CROYDON HOCKEYERS CRICKET CLUB 1967 – 1998 a Trip Down Memory Lane
CROYDON HOCKEYERS CRICKET CLUB 1967 – 1998 A trip down memory lane Introduction I have been on the RDCA Executive for the past 14 years and during that time have come to see and read publications documenting a club’s history to date and/or milestones. It got me thinking that should the old Hockeyers cricket club scorebooks be lost, that part of our club history would disappear in time. Some four years ago, Brian Gobbi and Bill Stafford did some research into Tommy Derham’s statistics and that became the catalyst for me to commence writing the history of the club. It became a bit of a target to coincide the production of a book with a reunion to be held during the fiftieth season since the cricket club was first formed. The Hockeyers story started in 1967 and, having joined the club in 1973, I was privy to a lot of Hockeyers history and thereafter the subsequent progress of the merged entity. Hockeyers had a 25 year reunion back in 1992 and a lot of statistical information was extracted for that event. Many thanks for their efforts go to Doug Ford, Brett Haines, Wayne Burgess, and others I have not mentioned, who compiled that senior detail. That information became the cornerstone of what appears in the book and I then used various resources to expand on that and introduce additional elements to the story. Although the scorebooks for the first four seasons cannot be located, the retention thereafter has been pretty good, with only the odd one missing, and that has assisted the exercise greatly.

  • Annual 2018 / 2019 Report
ANNUAL 2018 / 2019 REPORT Page 1 of 55 PRESIDENT’S REPORT Season 2018/2019 saw St Pats field 4 Master Blaster teams, 13 junior teams and 10 senior teams. Collectively this represents nearly 450 players in the Club. There were further changes to both junior and seniors’ formats. One would say with mixed results. The Club will continue to work with both Associations to ensure that the game remains appealing to all ages and skill level. Whilst each junior team had a coach and manager this season and each senior team had a manager, the Club desperately needs more people to join the committee to assist with either the Master Blaster, Juniors or Seniors programs. We also want to explore the feasibility of improving the net facility with steps from the carpark and general improvement to seating and access. However, we need people to assist in getting quotes, grants etc. The Club was again supported by our friends at the Tradies and we thank them for their continued support. Adam Young Hope everyone enjoys their winter activities and look forward to seeing you back with St Pats in the 2019/2020 season. Page 2 of 55 TREASURER REPORT 2018 / 2019 St. Patrick’s Cricket Club remains in a strong financial position after the 2018-19 season with a season profit of just under $9,000.00, this is a very good result with increases in registration & shirt sale on the Income side, on expenditure side, Association fees increased but we didn’t buy any shirts (saving of $9,900.00 on previous year) Unfortunately we have no “Premiership Team expenses” this year, so the only outstanding amounts that will come into next years expenses are AGM & Annual report expenses.

  • Annual Report 2017/2018 President’S Report
ANNUAL REPORT 2017/2018 PRESIDENT’S REPORT Another season has come and gone, and we congratulate all players and friends from St Pats community on another successful season. This year saw some changes in the game formats for Both men’s and the juniors. We had 3 T20 Blast teams commencing their cricket careers. Run at Kareela Oval the modified format was a great success and we look forward to building on this success in future seasons. In the younger age groups, we saw changes in the number of fielder’s length of pitch and smaller Boundaries. The results were increase participation more shots played and more fun resulting. Look out for further changes to the game format in 18/19 season. In the men’s competition we saw the reduction in overs in the 2 day format from 60 to 50. I think the majority of players preferred the newer format and the earlier finish. Congratulations to our 2 premiership winning teams – 16B-1 and the B4 men’s teams. Special thanks to all the committee members this year. Whilst it is a small group of people they work very well together to get almost 30 teams on the paddocks each season. A number of the committee are looking to retire so I would encourage anyone who would like to assist in the CluB to step up no matter how small the contriBution. One of the success factors the committee has achieved is produce a policy and procedure document which outlines what needs to Be done, By whom and By when.
