AWARD-WINNING TV EXECUTIVE MORGAN HERTZAN JOINS VICELAND AS EVP & GENERAL MANAGER TO LEAD EXPANSION OF PROGRAMMING ON VICELAND ​

VICE VETERAN GUY SLATTERY TO BECOME GLOBAL CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER

September 5, 2019 - Brooklyn, NY -- As amplifies its efforts around news, Emmy and DuPont award-winning news and non-fiction executive Morgan Hertzan joins as ​ ​ Executive Vice President and General Manager, VICELAND, a joint venture with A+E ​ Networks. Reporting to Jesse Angelo, President, Global News & Entertainment, Hertzan will oversee programming and operations for the television network and will play a pivotal role integrating award-winning VICE News content with the channel.

Guy Slattery will move into a new role as global Chief Marketing Officer. Reporting to ​ ​ CEO Nancy Dubuc, Slattery will be responsible for driving growth and innovation through audience insights and creative execution of the brand across all platforms and all VICE’s line of business including VICE News, VICELAND, VICE.com, VICE Studios and in-house agency VIRTUE.

Hertzan will lead the programming strategy for the continued growth and success of VICELAND as well as the development, creation and distribution of VICE News products to expanded platforms with new partners. For a second year in a row, is ​ the most Emmy®-nominated nightly newscast on television and has received 33 nominations and five wins in less than three years. Since its inception in 2016, VICELAND has brought younger audiences to cable through its award-winning original programming delivered to 170 million homes worldwide. , with the addition of VICE News Tonight and ​ ​ the youngest audience in TV news, VICELAND will be the go-to destination for young viewers - and the young at heart - who want to better understand the world around them. Hertzan will be based in VICE’s Brooklyn headquarters.

VICE News’ move to VICELAND coincides with expansion of the news division, led by the DC bureau’s growth by over 50% this year. As VICE News’ social channels reach over 10.1 million subscribers and 90% of millennials say they trust VICE News, programming continues to build beyond the nightly show and into new formats including streaming, audio and digital. VICELAND’s viewership has grown this year as became ​ the most-watched show in the channel’s history, leading four consecutive months of growth. The network is one of the 10 youngest ad-supported entertainment networks on all of television.

Prior to VICE, Hertzan was partner at Efran Films where he created many series and specials for History, Lifetime, Oxygen, ID, , and . He previously served as Senior Vice President and GM of Walt Disney Television/ABC News' Lincoln Square Studios for five years, overseeing all non-fiction content development in cable and broadcast for ABC News, including Viola Davis' The Last Defense for ABC, John Ridley's multi-award ​ winning documentary event Let It Fall, Netflix's Reversing Roe, Robin Roberts Presents for ​ ​ ​ Lifetime and live programming including the OSCAR© Red Carpet Opening Ceremony LIVE. ​ ​ Before his tenure at Disney/ABC, Hertzan was Senior Vice President at NBC Local Media, creating the daily talk show “New York Live” and was general manager of LX.TV, a lifestyle ​ ​ production company that he co-founded in 2006 which was later acquired by NBC. Hertzan spent many years at VIACOM and MTV developing new businesses and programming while there including mtvU, a 24-hour college cable network that reached 750 campuses and over 7.5 million college students nationwide

As VICE’s first-ever global Chief Marketing Officer, Slattery will drive VICE’s worldwide brand strategy by bringing together and harnessing its best-in-class marketing and creative services team to shape, expand and elevate the VICE brand’s positioning with external audiences - from VIRTUE and VICE+ clients to fans of VICE Studios and VICELAND, to the avid followers of VICE News and VICE.com.

Prior to his new role, Slattery served as President of VICELAND, where he built and led the team that launched the Emmy award-winning network in February 2016. Before joining VICE, Slattery was Executive Vice President of Marketing at A+E Networks, responsible for all marketing, creative and brand strategy for A+E and HISTORY, as well as the creation of lifestyle network FYI. Before his tenure at A+E Networks, Slattery led marketing and communications for the National Geographic Channel globally. An award-winning marketer, his work had been honored with numerous Cannes Lions, Clio’s and PromaxBDA awards.
