MURFC Celebrates 50 Years Friday, 27th May
Time: 12:00 pm – 3.00pm
Venue: The Establishment Hotel, Sydney
The Macquarie University Rugby Football Club is pleased to announce a special luncheon to celebrate our 50th year. The event will be a great opportunity to connect with teammates from past era’s, relive the clubs rich history and be entertained by a couple of grass roots rugby men. Master of Ceremonies: Peter “Fab” Fenton
Peter FAB Fenton needs no introduction to most –he is Australia’s pre-eminent sporting story teller. He builds stories often using poetry and brings the passion and the moment to life.
In FAB’s words: “While I am probably best known as a rugby man (happy with that) I have a genuine love
of most sports, the result of being indoctrinated by trips with my late father to see the great sporting champions of my childhood, Don Bradman, Ray Lindwall, Keith Miller, Clive Churchill, Frankie Stanmore, John Bromwich, John Treloar, Vic Patrick, Ray Revell, Aub Lawson et al.”
Peter Fenton knows and respects grass roots rugby but has also been there at some pinnacle moments in Australian Rugby history. His employment background extends to over 150 feature films as chief sound mixer –including films like Picnic at Hanging Rock, Gallipoli and Phar Lap.
Guest Speaker: Matt Dunning
Made famous by his 2003 Super Rugby drop goal playing for the Waratahs against the Chiefs, Matt Dunning enjoyed a long and successful Australian and Super Rugby career spanning 11 years that included 45 Test caps, 110 Super Rugby caps and even a brief cameo in the NSW Suburban Rugby competion with
Balmain RFC.
A local Eastwood product, Dunning gave many years of service to grass roots rugby playing 85 caps for Eastwood as well as attending Macquarie University for his studies.
Post rugby Matt has taken up a career in commercial property with CBRE in Sydney.
