This initiative, compiled by I.C.E. in co-operation with A.I.E., the Italian Publishers Association, was started in 1999 and aims to encourage the exchange of information between the Italian publishing trade and the publishing trade world-wide, and to provide a showcase for the most recently published Italian titles. This enterprise forms part of a wider project which I.C.E. and A.I.E. are undertaking to promote greater awareness of Italian publishing on international markets and closer working relationships between Italian and foreign companies. This catalogue is also available as a CD-ROM and can be accessed on the Internet at the following address: http://www.italien-on-line.de/buchmesse-2002 A.I.E. and I.C.E.

THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE UNIVERSITY SCHREYER HONORS COLLEGE DEPARTMENT OF JOURNALISM ITALIAN WHITE-COLLAR CRIME IN THE GLOBALIZATION ERA RICCARDO M. GHIA Spring 2010 A thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a baccalaureate degree in Journalism with honors in Journalism Reviewed and approved by Russell Frank Associate Professor Honors Adviser Thesis Supervisor Russ Eshleman Senior Lecturer Second Faculty Reader ABSTRACT At the beginning of the 2000s, three factories in Asti, a small Italian town, went broke and closed in quick succession. Hundreds of men were laid off. After some time, an investigation mounted by local prosecutors began to reveal what led to bankruptcy. A group of Italian and Spanish entrepreneurs organized a scheme to fraudulently bankrupt their own factories. Globalization made production more profitable where manpower and machinery are cheaper. A well-planned fraudulent bankruptcy would kill three birds with one stone: disposing of non- competitive facilities, fleecing creditors and sidestepping Italian labor laws. These managers hired a former labor union leader, Silvano Sordi, who is also a notorious “fixer.” According to the prosecutors, Sordi bribed prominent labor union leaders of the CGIL (Italian General Confederation of Labor), the major Italian labor union. My investigation shows that smaller, local scandals were part of a larger scheme that led to the divestments of relevant sectors of the Italian industry. Sordi also played a key role in many shady businesses – varying from awarding bogus university degrees to toxic waste trafficking. My research unveils an expanded, loose network that highlights the multiple connections between political, economic and criminal forces in the Italian system.

Tople i mirne ljetne noći prava su prilika kada možemo uživati u "svadbenom letu" krijesnica. Nekada česte i uobičajene, danas u Europi postaju sve rjeđe.

  • 2017 Annual Report Changing Ourselves, Transforming the World
CHANGING OURSELVES, TRANSFORMING THE WORLD ASSOCIATION OF FUNDRAISING PROFESSIONALS AND ASSOCIATION OF FUNDRAISING PROFESSIONALS’ FOUNDATIONS FOR PHILANTHROPY 2017 ANNUAL REPORT CHANGING OURSELVES, TRANSFORMING THE WORLD There are a lot of great quotes about change, and especially about changing the world. But there’s one that I think encapsulates the evolution and work of AFP in 2017. Leo Tolstoy said, “Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.” Perhaps the corollary to that is another quote, this one by the Muslim poet and theologian Rumi: “Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” We all want to change and transform the world. When you get down to it, that’s really the goal of AFP—to help you, fundraisers across the globe, transform the world. But you cannot change the world if you are not open to Ann Hale change yourself—and that was the theme and driving principle of AFP in 2017. We HAD to change if we were to help you transform the world. Our change started with the most basic aspects of our association. Working with a talented Board and a capable staff, we stabilized our financial position in 2017 and placed AFP in a positive net asset position for the first time in a decade. The Board also approved one of the biggest and most important governance transformations in our history, with critical changes to our bylaws and board structure, all of which will help strengthen AFP in the long-term.
