When it first started, no one was really sure how the students would respond. Within days, Mr. Manstavich recruited both staff and students to play in his month long tournament. Every day at recess, lunch and after school matches would take place and there were crowds of people cheering the players on. Students stayed extra hours to practice and perfect their craft. “It really helped bring our school community closer together because everyone was invested in the tournament whether because they were playing, because a teacher’s student was playing or just because they wanted their friend to win. Everyone in the school was really involved,” said Mikaella Goldsmith, CLC Coordinator. Joshua Casanova (pictured with Mr. Manstavich) won last year’s event and looks forward to defending his title in 2015.
