Flood and Landslide Issues in the Black Sea Region 26 - 27 October 2010, Hotel Novotel, Trabzon, Turkey ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear Colleagues/Partners,

I have great pleasure in inviting you and experts from your country to participate in the international seminar Flood and Landslide Issues in the Black Sea Region to be held on 26th and 27th October 2010 in Trabzon (Turkey).

As floods and landslides cause serious damages in the countries located in the Black Sea Region, this seminar, organized by the Turkish Disaster & Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) and supported by the European and Mediterranean Major Hazards Agreement (EUR-OPA) of the Council of Europe, aims to : • assess the present and future challenges for local municipalities, public sector institutions and citizens facing floods and landslides; • suggest possible responses to those challenges, based in particular on already existing good practices in the region. The working languages of the seminar will be English and Turkish.

Completed registration forms (see attached document) should reach the organizing committee before 4 October 2010 and proposals for presentations are warmly welcomed.

Participants will be accommodated at the Hotel Novotel ( http://www.novotel.com/gb/hotel- 6710-novotel-trabzon/index.shtml ) where the seminar will take place. The transfers from the Trabzon airport will be organized by the hosting authorities.

Limited financial support will be available for participants from EUR-OPA member States making presentations : please address your requests to the local organizer.
