29. LEONCE7 IVON (JOSEPH-LOUIS6 HIVON, JOSEPH5, ANTOINE4, CHARLES-FRANÇOIS3 YVON, YVES2 PHLEM, GUILLAUME1) was born 1886 in Trois Riviers, Québec, CANADA, and died April 19, 1950 in Derry, New Hampshire, USA. He married ERNESTINE HENRIETTA CAOUETTE July 03, 1905 in St. Thomas Aquinas, Derry, New Hampshire, USA, daughter of HERBERT CAOUETTE and HENRIETTA LACHANCE.

Notes for LEONCE IVON: Leonce immigrated to the United States between 1890-1904. He was born in Canada, he married Ernestine Caouette in 1905 in Derry, New Hampshire. In the 1910 Census they are living in Derry and have two children, Laura, age 3 and George age 1. Leonce is working in a shoe factory. In the 1920 Census they are living on 12 Florence Street, Derry. They now have four children, Laura, age 12, George, age 10, Edward, age 9 and Adelarde, age 7. Leonce is still working at a shoe factory. The age differences in the children show how the Census information can vary from year to year.

Leonce was a "healer", he once saved a woman who was bleeding to death, he stopped her bleeding, no one knew how he did this. It is interesting, because his direct ancestor, Yves Phlem, the first Ivon to come to Canada was also a healer. Leonce's son, Edward and granddaughter, Mary Jane, both had the ability to find water with a stick, known as "dowsers".

Remembrances of Mary Jane Ivon Case: Leonce was a very strict, large, tall man. He did not speak English very well. He built a house on Florence Street, Derry, New Hampshire, he sold this some years later to move into the house on 9 Union Street, built by Herbert Caouette, his father in law. This was so that his wife Ernestine could take care of her sick mother, Harrietta, until she died. The house then became Ernestine's.

It was common for the godparents to give their godchildren their middle name, Mary Ann Fortin was her godmother and she choose to give her Mary Ann, that is how she became Mary Jane Mary Ann. Because her mother died when Mary Jane was 2 years old, she was raised by her grandmother, Ernestine (méme) and Aunt Laura. Her father, married for a short time to Bea Marquis. Then he married Julia DeVarney, who had her own children. This is the women I knew as "Grandma". She attended the Catholic School, St. Louis de-Gonzague in Nashua, New Hampshire. Marriage Notes for MARY IVON and CHARLES CASE: Charles and Mary Jane met while they both were working at Chelmsford Shoe Factory, in Derry, New Hampshire. The first day Charlie seen Mary Jane, he turned to a co-worker and said "that's the girl I'm going to marry" even though he had not even spoken to her yet. His persistance paid off, they were married. The witnesses were Francis and Muriel Knights. In 1961, Charles and Mary Jane purchased their home from Mary Jane's father, Edward. This house was built (approx. 1800's) by Annie Chase's father. In January of 1984, this house was distroyed by a fire, the cause was determined to be a crack in the fireplace chimney. They rebuilt this home and a fire in October 1995 distroyed this home, this time the cause was thought to be electrical, but one theory is that because there were no leaves on the trees and the sun was bright that day, and Mom had just washed the windows and had no put the curtains back up, and Dad had been reading the newspaper earlier and had laid his reading glasses on top of the paper, that perhaps the sun glared down through his glasses and caught the paper on fire. They have once again rebuilt their home.

In 1998, they celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.
