Rochester Company (RDC) has an exciting opportunity to lead our youth dancers as Director of and Master. We are the prominent non-profit youth in Southeast Minnesota, featuring dancers from studios around the region. We are looking for a creative individual to help guide the company production vision. The ideal candidate is a proactive and passionate artist with a large body of experience in choreography, education, and leadership who recognizes and advocates classical ballet and dance outreach within the community. Position and Responsibilities The Director of Choreography and will implement his/her artistic vision through choreography, instruction and directing two major productions per year: a winter Nutcracker performance and spring performance. This position starts spring/summer of 2020. This person reports to the RDC Board of Directors ​ and collaborates with the production team.

Position Expectations ● Part-time, 8-10 hours per week, August-May ● Primarily weekend hours ● Lead weekly Company Class and rehearsals for youth dancers 6-18 years old ● Extra availability required for summer intensive, production weeks, and community outreach events ● Represents RDC at public appearances and performances ● Compensation based upon experience

Qualifications ● B.A. in dance or a minimum of 5 years of professional dance experience. Professional performing career and choreography experience preferred. ● Ballet instructor with extensive experience in mentoring youth ages 5-18 ● Experience as a highly skilled choreographer and instructor ● Understanding of professional company operations including show planning and public relations. This would include a broad spectrum of collaboration with board members, students, families, and alumni. ● Exemplary work ethic, aligning with RDC mission and values ● Flexibility to multitask and prioritize as new time sensitive situations or initiatives arise ● Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills ● Ability to negotiate and influence, while exercising awareness and sensitivity to the audience ● Maintains an active artistic network
