PROGRAMME OF CULTURAL EXCHANGES BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDIA AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE RUSSIAI{ FEDERATION FOR THE YEARS 2OO7-2O09

The Govemment of the Republic of India and the Government of the Russian Federation (hereinafter referred to as "the Parties"),

Desirous of strengthening and developing traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and peoples.

Recalling the Agreement between the Govemment of the Republic of India and the Govemment of the Russian Federation on Cultural and Scientific Cooperation concluded on January 28,7993,

Within the framework of this Programme of Cultural Exchanges, between the two Parties, emphasizing their intention to facilitate to the utmost the strenglhening of personal contacts between their representatives including I'outh and women, establishing direct exchanges involving both the Parties, its subjects and regions,

Recognizing the need to pay due attentron to holding various programmes dedicated to important dates and events inthe political, cultural and social life of the Indian and Russian people,

Expressing confidence that the implementation of the Programme will promote further development and deepening of relations of friendship and cooperation between their countries and peoples,

The Parties have agreed upon the following Progtamme of Cultural Erchanges for the yeus 2007-2009.

I. CULTURE AND ART

1. The Parties will render assistance in exchanging folklore, musical, theatre, ballet, circus groups and individual performers for participation in tours, festivals and other cultural events and will work towards development of cooperation in the field of flne arts, exchange of art exhibitions and works of folk art, as well as delegations of painters and handicraftsmen, art critics, experts in traditional folk art. The number of persons and days as well as the terms r'vill be agreed upon on a case-to-case basis.

2. Russian libraries including Russian State Library will exchange on reciprocal basis publications and other reading materials of mutual interest with the National Library of , India. The Parties will assist in exchanging visits of library experts reciprocally with a view to promoting library activities in the Russian Federation and the Republic of India. for a 3.
