You may bring certain electrical appliances to your room, e.g., a fan, TV, computer, compact refrigerator and low power microwave--1000 watts or lower.) Please note that each room may have only one refrigerator, TV and microwave. Larger items of extra furniture (e.g., chairs, bookshelves) and rugs may also be brought, but they must be in good repair, clean, safe, and of a size that fits the room. Efforts will be made to limit the quantity of these furniture items that find their way into the dormitory. Too many items that are too big for dorm rooms have been making their appearance. Freshmen often wonder about bringing carpets for their dorm rooms. For those who are interested, a typical Centennial Hall room, where freshmen women are housed, has a floor area of approximately 9’ x 15’. A room in Concord Hall, where freshmen men are housed, has a floor area of approximately 11’ x 15’. What NOT To Bring You may not have in your possession intoxicants or illegal drugs. Please do not bring toasters or toaster ovens, crock pots, electric frying pans or griddles, halogen bulb lamps, or other devices that might be fire or electrical hazards. Of course, dorm residents should not bring pets of any kind. Dartboards and darts are not welcome in the dormitory! Fireworks are not allowed in the dormitory or on campus. Firearms and ammunition may not be kept in a student’s personal possession as a dormitory resident. Sexually suggestive posters, signs, and paraphernalia that promote alcohol should not be brought into the dormitory. [Dorm supervisors will help students remove inappropriate room decorations.
