• Data is stored in “big endian ” format – most significant byte is stored in least significant segment of address. “Little endian ” stores the least significant byte in the least significant portion of specified address. – Mnemonic: “big end in”. – Example: Data value 4A3B2C1D at memory location 0x1000 • Big endian: 1000 1001 1002 1003 4A 3B 2C 1D
