Team information The Participation Team works to open up Parliament, to give the public a voice and to shape Parliament in the interests of the public. We reach out to communities and audiences across the UK, promoting an understanding of the role and relevance of both Houses, inspiring people to get involved and empowering people to have a voice. We also look after and develop Parliament’s nationally and internationally significant heritage collections with a mission to increase public and parliamentary access to, and engagement with, these collections through the provision of outstanding care, management, conservation and interpretation.

Our well-established public engagement activities continue to expand. Over 2 million people participate in outreach and engagement activities across the UK through workshops, events and the annual UK Parliament Week. A further 500,000 directly engage in activities at Parliament, including through tours of the Palace of Westminster and school workshops in our world-class Education Centre.

The Campaigns team is part of the Education and Engagement team. The Campaigns team is a small, but busy team. Including the new post-holders for this role, this team includes six staff: The Campaigns Manager, two Senior Campaigns Officers, two Campaigns Officers and one Campaigns Assistant.

Job introduction The purpose of this post is to work as part of the Education and Engagement Campaigns team, to deliver innovative events and campaigns that engage people with the UK Parliament’s work and Members of both Houses.

The post-holder will be expected to support the wide range of campaigns delivered throughout the year, including UK Parliament Week, EqualiTeas, The Your UK Parliament Awards, the UK Youth Parliament Sitting, Lords Live, Ask The Speaker and the Lego Suffragette’s tour.

This will involve drafting communications for our diverse audience, working with internal and external stakeholders, adding content to and managing data from a Case Management System, assisting in the delivery of events, researching new partnerships, and providing administrative support when necessary.

Key responsibilities

• Support the delivery of a wide range of campaigns, working effectively with internal and external stakeholders. • Help identify relevant audiences, partners and stakeholders for specific projects and events. • Act as first point of contact for customers, whether Members, staff, partners or the public • Draft communications for different audiences, for social media, letters, emails, etc. • Contribute to the maintenance of a Case Management System. • Process and evaluate data, for UK Parliament Week and other projects. • Co-ordinate the Lego Suffragette Tour, including researching partners and organising travel. • Assist with the planning and delivery of events. • Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders. • Working as part of a team, contributing to a wide variety of tasks which maximise the impact of projects and campaigns. • Providing administrative support to other members of the team as necessary.

Criteria 1 x x Experience of or interest in public engagement with Parliament

Criteria 2 Good stakeholder management skills, with the ability to maintain positive relationships with a range of stakeholders including senior staff and x x members the public.
