In MY 2010 U.S.A. imports of cocoa beans from Ghana was a record value at $95.6 million up from $55.2 million in 2009. Additionally, Ghana’s exports of cocoa butter and paste to the U.S.A. increased from $32 million in 2009 to a record value of $86.2 million in 2010, probably due to quality cocoa products produced in Ghana. Executive Summary: The cocoa industry has been the mainstay of the Ghanaian economy and provides the second largest source of export earnings representing about 30 percent of Ghana's total export earnings.
