How to get your BrixenCard?

The BrixenCard is not for sale. It is available free of charge from all BrixenCard partner establishments. On your first overnight stay at a BrixenCard partner establish- ment, your host will issue your BrixenCard to you. The card is valid from the day of arrival until and including the day of departure. All members of your family or travel group receive a separate card, and there is even a KidsCard for children from the age of six. The benefits and attractions given below are available to you free of charge. Many bonus partners offer additional discounts for even better holiday fun. The card is personalized and can be used with- out limitations throughout your stay. The credit card format makes it very easy to use, and your children will enjoy having their own card.

Twice the summer tale Plose is more than a beautiful ski area high above the cultural and shopping town of Brixen. In the summer, it is a natural highlight at 2,500m above sea-level and a boundless paradise for hikers, bikers and fans of breathtaking views. The panorama ranges from the main Alpine chain in the north to the Dolomites in the south. The rounded mountain top of Plose at 2,500m is one big sunny terrace. So if you wish to give your body and soul a treat, there is no better place to go. The hiking trail from the top terminal to Rossalm is pure pleasure. If it's a more sporting challenge you are after, explore the area on your mountain bike or admire nature from a bird's eye view during a tandem paragliding flight. Of course, our mountain lodges are ready to pamper you in the summer as well, with the finest food Italian and South Tyrolean cuisine can offer. Rossalm. Your hospitable stop on Plose mountain. When the sun caresses our face, the air is full of the scent of housemade South Tyrolean delicacies, when the host off ers you some schnapps as farewell, then you have arrived at the hut Rossalm. Surrounded by a 360° panorama of the Dolomites, the hut is embedded in the pastures of the Plose mountain, not far from the mountain stati on Kreuztal of the cable car. It even offers two options down: RudiRun 1 is the 5 km relaxed upper section to Trametsch lift, which takes you back up again. The more adventurous continue for another 5 km on RudiRun2. 22 The “blue gold” of Brixen Water is the elixir of life, especially in Brixen-Bressanone. The city where the rivers Eisack and Rienz join each others is characterized by this element. For centuries, water has been the source of economic welfare, but also of terrible destruction. The bishop’s city can look back on numerous floods. However, this was the right place to establish the first Kneipp sanatorium in the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, the kurhaus Guggenberg. Monastic life in Brixen The monastic district of Brixen is situated in the quiet southern part of the town. St. Clare's Convent, built during the lifetime of St. Clare at around 1235 and generally closed to the public, is a particularly venerable example. In the visitors' cell a nun will give you an impression of life in a convent. The guided tour continues with the harmonious Capucine Monastery built in 1602, where you are welcomed and shown around by one of the monks.

From royal houses to council chambers The guided tour explores residences and town houses in Brixen, where guests and locals often go by carelessly. The residence Lachmüller is just a few steps away from the historic center and is a masterpiece of Baroque aristocratic culture. Through the arcade gallery “Lauben”, the town hall, acquired in 1530, can be reached in a few minutes only. The tour ends in the representation-rooms of the new town hall. 24 A walk with the night watch All the hustle and bustle has vanished, the streets have fallen silent. How different and mysterious the town looks at night, when only the buildings are brightly lit. Now's the time for an evening stroll replete with historical facts and fiction. The town is full of places with a special spirit, and the night watch has lots of thrilling stories to tell. Episodes and sagas of bishops, witches, councilmen and ghosts take you back to ancient Brixen in this atmospheric tour. Hike to Neustift/Novacella Rural life between origins and modernism Guided walk along the dry stone walls from Brixen to Neustift. This hiking tour is an insider tip. The tour starts in the historic center and leads to Neustift on an impressive path. Vineyards as well as new and old dry stone walls mark the landscape. At the weather-cross in Neustift you can cook a “stonesoup” and enjoy a scenic view. Taste excellent white wines of the Eisacktal Valley and brew a tea with the herbs that you collected on your way. Return to Brixen and enjoy the sun on roman paths.

On the tracks of archaeology in Brixen A hike brimful of archaeological highlights. Starting from the oldest part of the city, Stufels, the way leads up to the Roman tower: a historic jewel and a wonderful panoramic view. 1 Brixen Castle and Diocesan Museum IT ALIEN The medieval Castle of the Bishops of Brixen, built in the 13th century, wasITALIA rebuilt several times across the centuries. The magnificent courtyard is one of the most impressive examples of in Tyrol. In the 18th century baroque elements were added by the Prince-Bishop Kaspar Ignaz of Künigl, who also redesigned the chambers of the bishop and the emperor. In 1973 the episcopal seat was transferred to Bozen. Today Brixen Castle accommodates the Diocesan Museum, the collection of Nativity cribs and the diocesan archives. The Diocesan Museum shows a representative cross-section of sacral art in South Tyrol, from valuable medieval sculptures and panels to more recent art dating from the baroque, classicist and romantic periods. Arts and crafts objects such as delicate gold work, glass paintings and furniture are on show alongside works of 19th century Tyrolean artists. Parts of the Brixen cathedral treasure, like the famous eagle chasuble, are also displayed. The collection of Nativity cribs includes not only Christmas cribs but also year-round cribs with many interesting details.

3 Weisser Turm Tower Museum The 72m high gothic tower of St. parish church is one of the hallmarks of the city of Brixen, together with the twin towers of the Cathedral. It is called the because of its bright roof dating from the year 1459 and is quite unmistakable also because of its four oriel windows which accommodated the fire watch's chamber up until World War II. It houses miniature bells with a real-life , models of the church and tower, church clocks and historic city views. 15 Mining World Ridnaun Schneeberg At over 2,000 metres, the Schneeberg mountain was home to Europe's highest mine. Living and working conditions were inconceivably hard. Its heyday was around 1500, when up to 1,000 miners worked in over 70 galleries. Today some of these former galleries have been converted into a mine for visitors. The entire production chain is displayed, from the extraction, the laborious transport to the surface, to the processing of the ore and the technical developments over the past 800 years. 73 Museum Schloss Moos-Schulthaus This interesting building was originally a medieval defensive and residential tower. The rooms have been decorated with historical furnishings and frescoes from around 1400. Of particular interest is the portrayal of the 'War of the Cats and Mice' (from around 1410).
