WINTER SCHOOL ON SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY Venue: Hotel Jezero, Bohinj, Slovenia - Wednesday 22/01/2020 to Friday 24/01/2020 Bohinj The municipality extends to a part of the southeastern part of the Julian Alps at the foot of Triglav, which reached a mountain in Slovenia at 2864 m. 66% of the municipal territory (221 km²) lies in the area of Triglav National Park, 84% of the municipality's territory is protected in the Natura 2000 area, which is a European network located in a natural network, scattered in an EU Member State with basic strength and biodiversity diversity for future generations. It is known for the beautiful lake Bohinj. Lake Bohinj lies in a glacially shaped lake bowl and contains nearly 100 million cubic meters of water. The steeply descending lake is undivided and has no shallow spots. The streaming lake warms up to 22 ° C in summer and often freezes in winter. Water levels increase by 2 to 3 m in heavy rainfall. Lake Bohinj in numbers: • altitude: 526 m • lake length: 4100 m (longest diagonal) • maximum width: up to 1200 m • volume of water: 92.5 million cubic meters • maximum depth: 45 m • lake surface: 318 ha • length of the lake shore (not always measured): 11.35 km Water in Lake Bohinj is renewed three times a year. The main inflow is Savica and the main outflow is Sava Bohinjka. More than a third of the water flows through karst springs below the lake level along the northern shore. In the event of heavy rainfall, karst waters rise to the surface at the Govic spring on the slope of Pršivec. Arriving in Bohinj: You can get to Bohinj by various means of transportation: by car, bus or train or by combining some of the aforementioned means of transportation. • By Car The tourist destination Bohinj is located 25km from the A2 motorway (Karavanke-Ljubljana-Obrežje). To arrive to Bohinj choose the Bled/Bohinj Exit and follow the main traffic route to Bohinj. • By Bus Regular bus service allows you to travel to Bohinj by bus from all over Slovenia. To arrive to Bohinj from Ljubljana by bus we recommend you to take the Kranj–Bled–Bohinjska Bistrica–Bohinj Zlatorog bus line. More information: Bus time-table: www.ap-ljubljana.si • By Train You can also catch a train to Bohinj from Jesenice or Nova Gorica. You can take a bus (the Bohinj Zlatorog line) or a taxi from the Bohinjska Bistrica Railway Station to Bohinj.
