Lindsay Field in Decatur, Ill., on Saturday, Oct. 27 … The win keeps IWU undefeated in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin with a 7-0 league mark (7-1 overall) while the Big Blue falls to 6-2 overall and 5-2 in conference play … Junior quarterback Brandon Bauer (Frankfort, Ill., Lincoln-Way East HS) completed 22 of 34 passes for 305 yards and three touchdowns - one of 35 yards to junior Jack Healy (Northfield, Ill., Glenbrook South HS) just 99 seconds into the game; one of 8 yards to junior Zach Walsh (Lombard, Glenbard East HS) with 1:11 to play in the first quarter; and another to junior Bryce Dooley (LeRoy HS) of 35 yards as the third quarter came to an end … Bauer improved to fifth in season with 2,436 passing yards, 130 yards from overtaking the record of 2,565 by Tom Monken in 1992 … Healy finished with five catches for a team-high 94 yards and has moved into the top 20 in IWU career records for catches (96, tied for No. 18) and receiving yards (1,445, No. 18). Dean Zigulich (Riverside, Riverside-Brookfield HS) had a team-best six grabs for 73 yards and Dooley had five catches for 66 yards … Senior RB Morgan Alexander (Elmhurst, York HS) ran for 144 yards and three touchdowns on 31 carries … Defensively, IWU got interceptions from senior Trevor Staley (Lake Zurich HS) (39 yard return), junior Trevor Koepke (Tinley Park HS) (47 yard return) and senior Quintin Walters ( Heights, Homewood-Flossmoor HS), who also had a 9-yard quarterback sack … The Titans were led in tackles by junior linebacker Ryan Swift (Brookfield, Riverside-Brookfield HS) with 11 and sophomore linebacker Keenan Scott (Riverside, Riverside-Brookfield HS) with 10 and senior defensive end Eric Dubose (Willowbrook, Hinsdale South HS) registered a quarterback sack, the 19th of his career, for -7 yards … The Titans amassed 456 yards of total offense with 305 of those in the air and 151 on the ground while the Big Blue gained 441 yards against IWU with

315 via the pass, a season-high against the Titans, and 126 rushing. Each team had 26 first downs and IWU had the ball for 32:17 of the game compared to 27:43 for Millikin … After the Titans held a 21-13 halftime lead, IWU scored 21 third quarter points to lead by a commanding 42-20 heading into the final period.

CCIW HONORS: Illinois Wesleyan senior defensive back Quintin Walters (Chicago Heights, Ill., Homewood- Flossmoor HS) was selected as the CCIW Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 29 … He had sixtotal tackles, a quarterback sack for -9 yards, forced a fumble and made an interception. COACH NORM EASH: The “dean” of league coaches and winningest coach in school history, Norm Eash (Illinois Wesleyan, 1975) is in his 32nd season at IWU … He has a career overall record of 207-104-1 (.657) and a career CCIW mark of 149-81-1 (.631) … The conference win over Wheaton (24-14, Sept. 15, 2018) moved Eash into the all-time lead for the most CCIW coaching victories. He passed his former head coach Don “Swede” Larson, who was 142-89-6 in 33 seasons (.612)… Eash became the school’s all-time football coaching win leader with a 52-21 victory over North Park on Oct. 12, 2013 … He surpassed the record held by his own college coach, Larson (168-121-6 from 1954-86) … Eash has been CCIW "Coach of the Year" six times (2017, 2009, 2007, 2001, 1996, 1992).

BAUER’S CAREER: Against Carthage, junior QB Brandon Bauer (Frankfort, Ill., Lincoln-Way East HS) tied a school single game record with 34 completions in 55 attempts for 361 yards with two TD throws, including the 4-yard game-winner to junior wide receiver Jack Healy (Northfield, Ill., Glenbrook South HS) on the second overtime possession. Doug Moews previously had 34 completions against Wheaton on Oct. 7, 1987. BEHIND ENEMY LINES: North Central celebrated Homecoming on Saturday with a 55-0 shutout win over Elmhurst, marking the program's 20th consecutive victory over the Bluejays. Six of the Cardinals' seven touchdowns came through the air, five from Broc Rutter and one from wide receiver Cameron Moore. Kamienski and Cory Hartema each caught a pair of TD throws, while tight ends Alex Rose and Tyler Egan each had one. The North Central defense notched nine quarterback sacks, the second-highest total in school history, and limited the Bluejays to a net loss of 18 rushing yards. DJ Warkenthien and Talha Ayhan each netted two QB sacks … The Cardinals currently rank first nationally among 250 NCAA Division III teams in pass completion percentage (72.7) and third down conversion percentage (55.0), second in red-zone offense (95.9%) and first downs (222), sixth in total offense (521.9 yards per game) and seventh in passing offense (325.0 ypg). North Central currently ranks 13th nationwide in scoring offense (44.4 points per game) and 26th in scoring defense (13.6 points allowed per game) … Rutter continues to lead the nation in individual completion percentage (72.9) and kicker Derik Judka is one of four Division III kickers to connect on 100% of their field-goal attempts (11 of 11). Rutter also ranks fifth nationally in passing yards per game (317.4), eighth in passing efficiency (173.5) and 10th in completions per game (25.50), while Judka sits fourth in field goals made per game (1.38). … Jeff Thorne has a 35-7 record in his fourth year as North Central head coach. He joined the NCC staff as the offensive coordinator prior to the 2002 season and was promoted to assistant head coach before the 2010 season. The son of previous head coach (and IWU graduate) John Thorne, Jeff has built one of the most potent offensive units in college football, as the Cardinals have averaged more than 35 points per game in each of the past nine seasons.

THE SERIES VS. NORTH CENTRAL: In a series that dates back to 1945, IWU leads North Central, 37-28-3 … North Central, winners of eight in a row and 14 of the last 15 vs. IWU, won last year, 26-13 in Naperville … IWU won in 2009 in a 28-22 overtime decision in Bloomington, a win that snapped a six-game losing streak to the Cardinals… The last win for Illinois Wesleyan in Naperville was a 24-0 decision in 2000. Since then IWU has lost eight straight games on the road to the Cardinals.

SEPTEMBER: The Titans are 71-23-1 (.745) in the Norm Eash coaching era in the month, including a 3-1 record in 2018 … IWU was 4-1 in September in 2017 and 2-1 in September 2016 ... TATA TIES RECORD: Illinois Wesleyan junior kicker Patrick Tata (Deerfield, Ill., Loyola Academy) tied a school record with four field goals in a 40-34 OT win over Carthage on Oct. 6. He connected on field goals of 30, 27, 33 and 37 yards in the win. His 37-yard field goal in overtime tied the game at 34-34 … Other Titans who have made four field goals in a game are Jason Blaskovich (at Quincy, Sept. 28, 1991) and Brian Klesath (vs. North Central, Oct. 19, 2002).

WORKING OVERTIME: The 40-34 win over Carthage on Oct. 6, 2018, was the first overtime game for Illinois Wesleyan since Sept. 29, 2012 … The Titans are 6-1 all-time in overtime games (5-1 at home). 1 – In Bloomington, IWU defeated Washington U., 31-24, on Sept. 21, 2002 when Eric White caught a 10-yard pass from Josh Akin for the score and Brian Klesath added the extra point before the Titan defense held the Bears. 2 - In Decatur on Oct. 14, 2006, the Titans beat the Big Blue 12-6. The winning score came when Nick Panno hit Martin Ceisel with an 11-yard TD pass. 3 - In Bloomington, IWU beat North Central, 28-22, on Oct. 31, 2009. After holding the Cardinals, IWU scored in five plays on a 10-yard pass from Kraig Ladd to Michael Sloboda. 4 – In Bloomington, IWU beat Wabash 41-35 in the second OT possession in a Nov. 21, 2009 NCAA playoff game. Jack Scalcucci caught a 30-yard TD pass from Kraig Ladd on a fourth and 15 play for the winning score. The game was 28-28 after regulation and both teams scored in their first possession. The P.J. Cummings intercepted a pass to end Wabash’s second OT drive before the IWU score. 5 - IWU lost a home NCAA playoff game in the third overtime to Monmouth, 33-27, on Nov. 19, 2011. The teams tied 17-17 at the end of regulation and played through two rounds of overtime with alternating possessions. On IWU’s third OT possession, Rob Gallik fumbled the ball at the 1-yard line to give the ball to the Scots. Monmouth’s Trey Yocum ran four times for 30 yards in the final OT, including a 7-yard TD rush for the winning score. 6 - Illinois Wesleyan won, 34-33 in overtime vs. Millikin at Tucci Stadium on Sept. 29, 2012. Tyrell Bolden broke up a two-point conversion pass to preserve the one-point win. IWU got the ball first and Sean Conley ran 4 yards for a score. Michael Kelley’s kick gave IWU a 34-27 lead. Millikin matched the TD but failed on a two-point pass play. 7 - Illinois Wesleyan won, 40-34 in overtime vs. Carthage at Tucci Stadium on Oct. 6, 2018. Patrick Tata made a 37 yard field goal in the first overtime possession and Brandon bauer threw a 4-yard TD pass to Jack Healy in the second OT possession.
