THIRD PHASE OF THE M U RESTORATION OF AN S ICONIC VICTORIAN E BUILDING IN CENTRAL U EDINBURGH. M O Phase Three of the National Museum of Scotland F was completed in 2016, with the opening of ten redeveloped exhibition galleries dedicated to science, S technology, art, design and fashion. C O Following the success at the relaunch of the museum in T 2011, the museum’s 150th anniversary, BECK undertook L the role of Exhibition Fit-Out Contractor, alongside the A design team. N D BECK was responsible for the design development, management, fabrication and fit out of the galleries and the atrium over three floors, with the galleries divided into six zones dedicated to science and technology and four zones to art and design. The works included showcases, joinery, gallery lighting, audio visual hardware, graphics, metalwork, decoration, upholstery, M&E and specialist rigging.

N A The 60-hectare wetland reserve hosts a number of galleries that T interpret wetland areas throughout the world with a unique mixture I of architectural and theatrical treatments. O N BECK was responsible for the entire fit-out of all exhibition spaces A including audio visual, dioramas, taxidermy, models, interactive L elements, electrical and lighting, display cases, graphics and external exhibits, including the importation of many live species. S E The 40-year old Al Ain Zoo was redeveloped to include R a wildlife themed safari park, destination resort, retail T and residential communities. L BECK was commissioned to fit-out the Sheikh Zayed Desert E Learning Centre to showcase and explore the natural and A cultural history of the Arabian deserts, as well as deserts R worldwide. The pre-fabricated joinery manufactured at N BECK was designed to replicate sand dune formations using I multiple layers of Birch plywood with integrated interactives, N graphics and sculptures. We were also responsible for G delivering three individual theatres within the centre as well C as an installation replicating the local caves of Jebel Hafeet. E We provided more than 100 species of animal and bird N sculptures without using furs and feathers, just specialist T casting, airbrush and painting techniques. R E

The Stained Glass & Sacred Silver Gallery is home to some G 300 spectacular pieces. Our role as main fit-out contractor A included the enabling works to align the galleries’ visual L aspect and complete finishes renovation. A floor to ceiling L false wall was installed to display stained glass and house E R cantilevered conservation grade cases. We also created nine I bespoke structural steel frames with internal LED illumination E to display over 100 pieces of stained glass, as well as AV S and interactives.

H I L BECK was set the challenging task by ConocoPhillips L Oil Company of undertaking the design development, I fabrication and full fit-out of the Conoco Museum and the P Phillips Museum in two Oklahoma towns 75 miles apart, S opening on consecutive days. Each heritage museum boasts the entire history of the ConocoPhillips’ organisation from M its foundation to the present day. U S These projects were multi disciplined and involved fabrication E and installation of showcases, interactives, audio-visual U hardware and software, graphics and joinery elements.
