  • Brent Infrastructure Funding Statement 2019-20 FINAL.Pdf
1 Introduction 1.1 Brent is the 6th largest borough in London with a population of 334,700. It is projected to grow by at least 17% and reach 400,000 people by 2040. 1.2 The draft Brent Local Plan outlines an ambitious strategy to accommodate development in the borough to 2041. To support this growth, significant investment in infrastructure will be required. 1.3 An Infrastructure Delivery Plan (IDP) supports the Local Plan. It sets out short, medium and longer-term infrastructure requirements to address growth needs. The IDP will be used to support the allocation of Community Infrastructure (CIL) and Section 106 (s106) funding. 1.4 This is the Council’s first Annual Infrastructure Funding Statement (IFS). It has been prepared in line with the Community Infrastructure Levy (Amendment) Regulations 2019 and covers income and expenditure relating to CIL and s106 obligations for the financial year 2019/20. It also, where possible, sets out future spending priorities on infrastructure in line with the growth identified in the draft Brent Local Plan. 1.5 The Council uses s106 agreements and CIL to support development and mitigate its impacts and maximise the benefits and opportunities from growth to deliver the priorities of the Borough Plan (the Council’s Corporate Plan) and the Brent Local Plan. 1.6 The IFS sets out what infrastructure has been delivered to date via CIL and s106 planning obligations, as well as identifying, where it is able to do so, future infrastructure spending priorities. 1.7 The IFS will also help communities understand how the level of growth outlined in the Local Plan can deliver tangible outcomes and investment in infrastructure projects such as new public realm, health facilities, schools, transport and open space that will support long-term growth and development of the borough.

  • Local Plan Church End Growth Area Site Allocations BSSA1: Asiatic
Brent Publication Stage (Stage 3) Local Plan Church End Growth Area Site Allocations BSSA1: Asiatic Carpets Representations on behalf of Kelaty Properties LLP These Representations are submitted on behalf of Kelaty Properties LLP, freehold owners of a 2.3ha site (herein after referred to as the Asiatic Carpets site) that forms part of the BSSA1: Asiatic Carpets site allocation (which is the combination of the Asiatic Carpets and adjoining Cygnus Business Centre sites, herein after referred to as the allocated site). The Asiatic Carpets site is in single ownership and currently comprises a number of large industrial, office and warehouse buildings, as well as open storage, a car wash and builder’s yard. All existing tenants are short-term (albeit Asiatic Carpets as landowner have occupied the site for a number of years) and the buildings are reaching the end of their economic life. As outlined in our response to the preferred options Local Plan, it is the short to medium-term intention of the owners to rationalise their Asiatic Carpets business and either relocate, or operate from more efficient, modern space on site. The Council reviewed and provided commentary on our representations to the preferred options Local Plan within the ‘Summary of Comments to the preferred options Local Plan’ (see Document 1). The response considered our representation to raise three main issues, which can be summarised as follows: 1. Whether it should be necessary and appropriate for the redevelopment of the Asiatic Carpets site to provide replacement industrial floor space; 2. The phasing and deliverability of the Asiatic Carpets site in conjunction with the adjoining Cygnus Business Centre as a single allocation; and 3.

  • Annual Report for 2014/15
ANNUAL REPORT FOR 2014/15 Chairman’s Report I must begin my report on a sombre note. In the death of Carol Halls last November we lost, not only a long-standing member of the Society but also a pillar of its very structure. Carol epitomised that urge to achieve and to overcome any obstacle. She continued to work for us to the very end despite bouts of poor health and periods in hospital. Those of us who worked with her over many years really do feel bereaved. I do not use the word "irreplaceable" lightly but she is. Our one consolation is that she suffers pain no more and is at eternal rest. I am writing this on March 18th. My desk-top calendar supplied by one of our corporate members, CPI, tells me that on this day in 1959 EMI discontinued the manufacture of 78 rpm singles. What great progress has been made since then in the reproduction and dissemination of live and recorded music! Our quality of life has, by and large, improved by similar leaps and bounds but I ask the question: are we any happier with our environment now than we were 30 or 40 years ago? It is true that much has improved - we have only to look at photographs of London buildings just after the Second World War to realise how dirty and harmful our air was then. However, we are not living in some kind of Utopia. There are many challenges to face. It is good to read in other sections of this report that The Finchley Society is grappling with bad planning applications and with a general indifference towards the environment.
