“In Jesus’s ministry, God’s reign is interpreted as the expression of God’s caring authority over the whole of life.” David Bosch

We are glad you are here this morning to take a step towards encountering God and belonging in our community of imperfect people. We’re all at different places in our relationship with God. You might have heard a lot about God or be exploring who He is for the first time. At New Song, we are all seeking transformation in our lives by the grace of God. May this morning be good for your soul!

Ordinary June 6, 2021

This is a period of growth and maturation, a time in which the Spirit works to take the truths of the gospel deeper into our lives. Ordinary time can be understood in terms of the living out of Christian faith and the meaning of Christ’s resurrection in ordinary life.

Advent | Christmas | Epiphany | Lent | Easter | Pentecost | Ordinary CALL TO WORSHIP: PSALM 146:1-7 Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul! I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation. When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish. Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry.

SONG: ON JORDAN’S STORMY BANKS I STAND

And he divided the two fish among them implored him that they might touch even the fringe of his all. 42 And they all ate and were satisfied. 43 And they garment. And as many as touched it were made well.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE Our God of grace, you are patient and kind. You have sought us when we were hiding. You have waited for us when we have been stubborn. You have pursued us when we have been wandering. We confess that our hearts are still fickle. It is easy for us to ignore your grace to us, and to withhold your grace from others. We so often turn away from the needs around us and ignore people who are in need of your love. Help us to receive the grace of Christ we so desperately need, and empower us to extend that grace to the world around us. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON: HEBREWS 9:28 so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.

CELEBRATION OF THE LORD’S TABLE Let us confess our faith: I believe in God: the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to hell. The he rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. SONG: NAILED TO THE CROSS
