Infographic: Renovation of Public Facilities in Ukraine EIB EARLY RECOVERY PROGRAMME Renovation of public facilities in Melitopol, Prymorsk and Mariupol The European Investment Bank, the EU’s bank, has provided the government of Ukraine with a loan of EUR 200 million under the Early Recovery Programme (ERP). These funds are used for the repair of medical institutions, schools and kindergartens, and residential, administrative and public buildings in nine oblasts of Ukraine: the Ukrainian government-controlled areas in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, Odesa, Kherson, and Kyiv oblasts. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) helps to control the transparency of its implementation. As of September 2019, a total of 269 sub-projects for the repair of 262 facilities, with a total cost of EUR 179.14 million have been selected under the programme. In particular, under the ERP the EIB provided EUR 34.6 million for repairs to 35 public facilities in Melitopol and Prymorsk in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, and in Mariupol in Donetsk Oblast. Repairs at four of them were completed in September 2019. Five more will be opened by the end of 2019. The remaining 26 facilities will be completed by the middle of 2021.
