WINNEBAGO COUNTY PARKS Receives $30,000.00 ‘Meet Me at the Park’ Grant to Increase Access to Local Inclusive Play Spaces

Grant awarded by the National Recreation and Park Association and The Walt Dis- ney Company Oshkosh, Winnebago County, WI 06/11/2019 – WINNEBAGO COUNTY PARKS has been selected to receive a $30,000 play space grant from the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and The Walt Disney Company. This investment supports NRPA and Disney’s combined goal of providing one mil- lion kids and families with greater access to play. As part of the national Meet Me at the Park Play Spaces grant program, park and recreation agencies across the country were invited to share their best ideas on increasing access to play spaces for children and families in their communities. The 25 agencies with the most innovative and impactful project ideas were chosen to receive $30,000 grants to build their projects. WINNEBAGO COUNTY PARKS will use the $30,000.00 grant to install the initial portion of THE NATURAL WAY—To Live, Learn and Play - Universally Accessible Outdoor Recreation & Education Facility, located inside the Winnebago County Community Park. “NRPA is proud to collaborate with The Walt Disney Company to help more children and families experi- ence the benefits of play,” said Kellie May, NRPA vice president of programs. “By increasing access to play spaces, this program will also provide unique activities tailored to the local community that support healthy lifestyles.” For more information about this project, visit https://www.co.winnebago.wi.us/sites/default/files/uploaded- files/the_natural_way_powerpoint_presentation_2.pd To learn more about Meet Me at the Park, visit www.nrpa.org/meetmeatthepark. The National Recreation and Park Association is a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that all Americans have access to parks and recreation for health, conservation and social equi- ty. Through its network of over 60,000 recreation and park professionals and advocates, NRPA encour- ages the promotion of healthy and active lifestyles, conservation initiatives and equitable access to parks and public spaces. define term=gumshoe An old slang term for a detective or investigator (police-affiliated or private). Variants include "dick" or "private dick," the connotations of which were not meant to be obscene. Shoes in the late 1800s were made of gum rubber - the soft-soled precursors of the modern sneaker. The phrase "to gumshoe" meant to sneak around quietly as if wearing gumshoes. https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=gumshoe Good to know.
