Obituary It is sad to report the passing of Bret Penman on the 11th February 2016. Bret joined the Club in 1953, was Chairman of the Club 1963 - 1966 and was made a Life Member in 1970 and an Honorary Vice-President in 1998. Our sincere condolences to his wife, Louise and family.

ABOUT GFI HKFC 10s Hong Kong Football Club has hosted the 10s every year since it was first staged in 1986 to celebrate the club’s 100th anniversary. Now in its 31st year, the GFI HKFC 10s is held on the Wednesday and Thursday before the world-famous and is also sanctioned by the Hong Kong (HKRU). U8’s The HKFC under 8s had a fantastic tour, both on and off the pitch. National U21 Selections At the outset of the season the Men’s Hockey Section included a number of the developing youth players into our first division set-up, as highlighted in previous issues of the Magazine. The D Team goal for the season has been geared around securing a place in the First Division again for next season, and for the individuals, taking the opportunities to develop and to become worthy contenders for higher honours. It is therefore with great pride we congratulate 7 of the group for being selected so soon into the Hong Kong Under 21 Boys team. Not only is this a particularly large group to be selected from one club, but almost all of them are still only 14 or 15 years of age. Our goal of the month comes from a fantastic game where the B’s beat Dutch 7-0. It was a brilliant team goal that started within the attacking 25 with a packed D ahead. The Junior Club Championships was held on the 27th and 28th of Get to know February. An Open event was played along with a closed junior event. New Sports Preferred Members

Four young ladies recently joined the Badminton Society under the Sports Preferred Members scheme. They are Wing Tung Woo, Tiffany Lam, Nora Man and Chloe Lam. Wing Tung started playing badminton at the age of nine and has represented her secondary school and university where she has won many individual and team awards in major badminton tournaments, including the Hong Kong Open Badminton Championship and HKBA President Cup. She was also named “Sportswoman of the Year” by both the Hong Kong Secondary School Sports Federation and the University of Hong Kong. From left to right: Wing Tung, Tiffany, Nora and Chloe. On a sad note, two of our members left the BIG committee in the past three months. Marian Leung resigned as BIG Secretary in December due to her new work post that requires frequent travelling. We are intra league between BIG and the Lawn Bowls Section possible. grateful to Marian for all her dedicated work in BIG.
