However, they proved too strong for us in the end and we went down 0-2. FC2 also had a hard match against the Macau Bats – a team who we have now played three times gaining a draw, win and now a loss! The final match secured a 3-0 victory over VF3, with some excellent rucking and tackling to U9 in action finish the day on a high. The B tier sides had similarly mixed fortunes, with some good wins across the groups. FC4’s players showed some good strength and skill in their first match against the Police but then had close matches in their next three matches. All sides will continue to work on their rucking, tackle technique and their defensive organisation as we move into the second half of the season.

U12 Club U12 Club finished the Tai Po tournament in 2nd place, having performed erratically. We started the day with arguably our best game of the season. Dominating Valley from the outset, our boys put on a superb display scoring four tries and conceding none. Next up we played USRC, but the Club boys were on another planet in the first half, letting two tries in and giving ourselves a ton of work to turn things around. Thanks to some very strong running from Oliver Nicolle the tide was turned, and we won 3-2 just in the nick of time. On Wednesday 27th January, (no horse racing in Happy Valley), we invited the Police Tennis Club (PTC) to have a friendly match with the D team. Although the weather was cold, our hearts were hot enough for playing this match which was postponed from December. Rain stopped around noon and the courts became playable, so we started our sets as quickly as possible after checking the Hong Kong Observatory forecast. we lost 4:5. Australian Open Social 2016 Future Fixtures The Aussie Open social was held on 30th January 2016 with 27 people signing up. This year the line up Adult/Junior Club Championship was strong with only an Open category. Players were beginning weekend of 27th February; divided into 4 teams and played Mens, Ladies and Mixed finals on Saturday 19th March with doubles. With a lot of players it made for some exciting trophy presentation and Gala Dinner tennis while using the Fast 4 format. Players had plenty of great tennis to play and in between matches had the Start of Season/Charity Cup opportunity to watch the Australian Open Ladies final Sunday 17th April between Serena Williams and Angelique Kerber. It was fitting that Angelique followed Team Kerber in HKFC Invitational Club Challenge winning the Australian Open. Team Kerber consisted Saturday 14th May of Joe Vasoontara, Remy Liekenjie, Tanya 1 - 7.40pm followed by trophy presentation and BBQ Master, Angus Chan, Dexter Brutus and Therese Beresford. Kung Hei Fat Choy! The 2016 swimming season is off to a strong start. The Swimming and Triathlon Society competed in the first pre- season HKASA pool race of the year. The event took place at Shing Mun Pool, in a short course format. The Football Club swimmers were able HKASA to dominate in the sprint (50 Free / 25 Fly) and Stroke (50 Fly / 25 Back) events.
