Call to Order: Basileus, Soror Donna L. Cook called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Meditation: Soror Charlaine Carter

❖ Approval of Minutes: It was moved by Soror Mary Castleberry, seconded by Soror Joyce Suber that the December 7, 2016 minutes be approved with corrections. The vote was called. The minutes were approved. o The corrections were that both Soror Charlaine Carter’ name and the Marriott Hotel’s name were misspelled. Basileus Report: Soror Donna L. Cook

● Thank you to the EXO Standards Committee for conducting an excellent Leadership Workshop. Special thanks to Soror Staa Heshimu, Standards Committee Chairman.. ● Thank you to the 2017 Officers and Committee Chairmen for answering the call of leadership. ● Only sixty-six sorors have paid dues for 2017. All chapter dues need to be paid in full by the January Chapter meeting to be included in the mass payment. Dues must be paid in full to the corporate office in order to void a break in service. ● Congratulations to Sorors Dianne Joiner and Patricia Hyde who will become Golden and Sorors Erika Walker and Marquetta Brown who will become Silver at the 2017 Regional Conference. ● 2017 FWRC is 3/1/17- 3/9/17-3/12/17 at the Santa Clara Marriott. 2

● EXO will host a “Honey-Do” Dinner in the month of February for or husbands, boyfriends, male friend or significant other that has supportive of EXO and our sorors. The event is being coordinated by Soror LaVerne Brown. More detailed information will be in the BNU as arrangements are made.. ● The 32nd annual MLK Breakfast will be January 13th from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00a.m. at the Town and Country Hotel. ● EAF - Soror Irene Outlaw is our EAF Chairman. We are $700.00 shy of reaching our desired Platinum Status. Funds will be solicited at the January chapter meeting. The deadline is 2/3/17. ● EXO is being honored as the 2017 Community Organization Award recipient by the Voice & Viewpoint at the 57th Anniversary Gala on February 3rd, 2017 at 7:00pm. The event will be held at the Jacob’s Center. EXO has reserved two tables of 8 seats. Tickets are $100..00. Sorors who plan to attend should purchase tickets online at http://voiceandviewpoint.app.rsvpify.com/ Please contact Soror Christine Antoine to reserve a seat at an AKA table. The deadline is 1/20/17. ● Soror Yvonne Yelder-Logan will be honored by at the 32nd Annual Outstanding African-American Educators Awards Breakfast on February 4th , 2017 in the Goodall Alumni Center at SDSU. Tickets are $45.00. Make check payable to EXO and a chapter check will be sent to PDK. The RSVP deadline is January 27th.

❖ Soror Joyce Suber moved that EXO place a full page ad for Soror Yvonne Yelder-Logan. Soror Beverly Chandler seconded. The vote was called. The motion was approved.

● Soror Yvonne Frisby will be honored by Phi Sorority, Inc. at the 2nd Annual Zeta to a “Tea” Event: “Military Women Rock” on April 8th , 2017 from 11:00am- 1:00pm at the DoubleTree by Hilton, located at 1515 Hotel Circle. Tickets are $45.00. Make check payable to EXO and a chapter check will be sent to ZPB. The RSVP deadline is January 27th. Deadline is March 31st.

● Budget and Finance Report: Soror Deborah Davis-Gillespie / Soror Emma Turner Pecunious Grammateus: Soror Deborah Davis-Gillespie ● Report is attached Tamiouchos: Soror Emma Turner ● Report is attached. ❖ Soror Emma Turner moved that the Executive Committee recommend that the chapter approves the proposed changes to the 3

Financial Operation Procedures. Seconded by Soror Deborah Davis-Gillispie. The vote was called. The motion passed.

● The Financial Operation Procedures are available on the EXO website for review. Sorors will be informed that a vote will be taken at the January 21st chapter meeting.

Graduate Advisors Report: Soror Jaine Derrough  There was a conference call with the Regional Director, Soror Carol Dixon to discuss the investigation findings involving . o One year suspension granted for six sorors. o The withdrawal of privileges lifted for six sorors. o Letter sent to the former MI faculty advisor and EXO detailing the restrictions, limiting her involvement with MI as employee of SDSU. o EXO Graduate Advisors and GAC members must have more training regarding the specific roles and duties of the FA, GA and GAC. o Warning letters will be sent to sorors named in the investigation advising them to not have any contact with Mu Iota sorors, as they are not GA, GAC members or active members of EXO. o EXO will decide the future of Mu Iota at a future date.

Debutante Ball: Soror Dianne Joiner

● We have 13 Debutantes. ● Three escorts are still needed. ● Souvenir Journal deadline for incentives is January 20th , 2017. ● Please consider bringing a extra ball gown for guests who are not appropriately dressed ● The Parent Appreciation Reception will be at Francis Parker School on 3/19. ● The chapter photo will be taken at the January chapter meeting.

Launching New Dimensions of Service  All written reports and PowerPoint slides should be submitted to the Basileus, First or Second Anti-Basileus respectively, one week prior to Executive Committee Meeting. PowerPoint slides will then be forwarded to the Epistoleus, Soror Patricia Grooms-Jones for preparation for chapter meeting. [email protected]

 Conference Call meeting dates for 2017 were announced for all LNDS Target Committees.

Target I: Educational Enrichment: Soror Joyce Suber

● ASCEND o Soror Judy Long Pharaoh gave a presentation on Global Warming. o Soror LaVerne Brown will give a presentation in February. o Attend ASCEND students will join EXO in our 2017 MLK Interfaith Day of Service on January 16th at Balboa Park. Target II: Health Promotion - Soror Phillis Denmon

● EXO will observe Pink Goes Red in February in support of Women and Heart Health.. Sorors are asked to wear red to the February chapter meeting and post pictures to social media. More details to come regarding additional activities

Target IV Environmental Ownership: Soror Maxine Sherard ● Request made to purchase a Caterpillar playground structure for the Butterfly Park. ● Diego Unified School District will maintain the park ● The structure cost $2,000.00. Thus far, $700 has been raised. $1000 is expected to come from Elected Officials. We would like to fundraise within the chapter for the remaining amount needed. ❖ It was moved by Soror Joyce Suber to approve fundraising for the purchase and installation of the Caterpillar Playground Structure. Soror Staa Heshimu seconded. The vote was called. The motion carried. Second Anti-Basileus: Soror Ethel Daniels

● Parades and Walks: Soror Ethel Daniels o MLK Parade will be January 15, 2017. Theme: AKA:Batting for Equality o OOO Sorors are jointly participating. Mixer will be held after the parade. o Meet at 10 a.m. at the County Health Building to decorate the cars.

● Founders Day: Soror Ethel Daniels o Founders Day registration is $75.00. o The bus trip to Founders Day is $25.00. o There will be a special Founder's Day presentation at the January chapter Meeting. Meeting adjourned at 8:00p.m. 5
