LA County Supervisor Janice Hahn Secures High-Profile

Endorsement of Governor of California

LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CA -- Continuing to build momentum since her campaign launch just last week, today Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice

Hahn garnered a powerful endorsement from California Governor Gavin

Newsom in her re-election bid to keep representing L.A. County’s 4th District on the Board of Supervisors. This endorsement follows news that Los Angeles

Mayor Eric Garcetti endorsed Hahn last week.

In a statement released following the announced endorsement, California

Governor Gavin Newsom commented:

“Janice Hahn has been a tremendously effective leader for the people of the 4th

District. Throughout her career, she has been a champion for working families, ensuring clean air and water for local communities, investments in education, protecting healthcare, improvements neighborhood security and emergency response, expanding affordable housing and more. I am proud to endorse

Janice Hahn's re-election for Los Angeles County Supervisor.”

Last week, Hahn, who is currently serving as Chair of the Los Angeles County

Board of Supervisors, released the following statement to kick-off her 2020 campaign:

"Since I was sworn into office in late 2016 - transforming our county by lifting up all communities - has been at the heart of my people first agenda.

"Since then, we've succeeded on a myriad of fronts, helping to pass Measure H to address homelessness; taking on big oil companies and polluters by strengthening pipeline safety regulations and restricting offshore oil drilling while promoting clean energy production; passing local measures that invest millions in public safety, schools and water infrastructure; housing for local veterans; launching a Mobile Stroke Unit that provides life-saving, emergency medical services needed to survive a stroke; protections for clean air and good jobs at our port; as well as advancing the effort to replace the unsafe county jail and establish a new secure mental health rehabilitation center to treat mental illness and safeguard public safety.

"We've accomplished so much over the last several years, but the fact is that there's much more to get done in the years ahead. That's why I'm running for re-election, because it's critical that we build on the county's recent successes while remaining clear-eyed about the challenges ahead. I plan to work hard in this campaign and build up a diverse and dynamic coalition that reflects the people of the 4th district and our vision to move Los Angeles County forward."

The daughter of former County Supervisor Kenny Hahn, renowned for his long tenure of public service, Janice Hahn has followed in her father’s footsteps throughout every step of her career. Currently the representative for L.A.

County’s 4th District on the Board of Supervisors, Hahn has dedicated her career to a people first agenda.

Underscoring her commitment to great neighborhood schools, she previously served as a classroom teacher. From there, Hahn was elected as a Member of the Los Angeles Charter Reform Commission, and thereafter, to the L.A. City

Council where she represented the 15th District. After serving in local government, she was elected to Congress, first representing California’s old

36th District in the U.S. House of Representatives, and after redistricting, she represented California’s 44th district. In 2016, Hahn was elected to serve on the

Board of Supervisors.

As the 4th District's representative on the County Board of Supervisors, Hahn has focused like a laser on advancing an agenda that prioritizes working families, women, children, seniors and young people all across the 4th District.

L.A. County is Janice Hahn’s home. It’s where she raised her daughter, Katy and her two sons, Danny and Mark. It’s also where she spends time with her five beautiful grandchildren: McKenna, Brooklyn, Isabela, Josiah, and Luke.
