Located on Wapping Lane opposite the well known Tobacco Docks, Wapping Broadcast provide facilities including three studios, two galleries, two edit suites, Master Control Room transmission, as well as return path and playout facilities.

Wapping is part of a growing area in East London which is re-developing, expanding and has recently becoming one of the most striving and up-and-coming areas of London.

We are one stop on the DLR from Bank and five minutes from Shadwell station. On a warm sunny day, you might want to take a stroll from Tower Hill, via St. Katherine’s Dock to Wapping.

You will find us minutes away from buzzing Brick Lane and moments away from Canary Wharf.

Our Broadcast Facilities

• Studio

At Wapping broadcast we have three large studios available for hire. We offer these studios in two capacities.

As a “dry hire” agreement. We give you the space; you do what you like with it. In this situation you choose which studio you want and tell us what you need. We can let you have it as it is empty for you to provide your own equipment, lights, cameras etc. Or you can specify what you need and we will work out the tailor made quote, based on the price guidelines provided.

We can also offer you studios on a daily, weekly or monthly rate depending on what you require. You can advise when booking if you require for example chromakey, drapes or any other equipment you may need.

Aside from this, we offer the studios as part of a long-term broadcast agreement; where by the studio can be occupied for a production which can then be played out from Wapping Broadcast.

• Playout

Wapping Broadcast operates a full channel play out service. Whether you are producing live material from one of our studios, or your content is pre-recorded, or whether you are producing live material elsewhere which needs to be integrated with other content, we will do it for you.

We can offer:

• Potential to broadcast through Arqiva or Globecast or via facility line to BT • Downlink transmission from other satellites • Transmit play out both automated (pre- recorded) or live from studios in-house, or at an outside production company

• Automation: Pharos automated system • Storage for pre-recorded content(Server Space, Omneon) • Scheduling system: Pharos system, integrated with Starfish if necessary. • Talk Back (communication form Gallery to our Transmission via ISDN line • Library space (in house library for tapes) • Transmission: 24/7/365 monitoring and Fault reporting • Transfer: ingest, dubs etc • Compliance recording (if necessary when holding broadcast license) • Stand-by material (Evergreen, emergency or maintenance slates) • Bug generators: Digital Onscreen Brockets used for logo’s, channel idents, straps, crawls, reverse L • Trigger for Red button if the channel has interactive capability • UPS (uninterrupted Power Supply) Protection for all Play out, protecting it until generator Back up is started

Connectivity

Whilst Wapping Broadcast focuses on providing quality broadcast and play out solutions, there is a lot more we can do in our building!

Connectivity is something we can provide, in lots of formats. Web Streaming is becoming one of the most popular ways to view content, be it live of pre-recorded. We can provide web streaming solutions for conferences, events, personal presentations, interviews etc. We can stream footage shot here in our own studios, or we can stream footage shot offsite.

We can either stream content to your own website or we can host a temporary site for you if this is preferable. Additionally we can offer you the service of transporting your footage to the desired location. If you are filming something locally to us (ie: around London) we can get your footage to BT Tower via our facility lines or directly to an FTP server, once we have encoded it for you.

There is always a solution to suit every need and we endeavour to find the best and most cost effective solution for you, all under one roof.

What else?

Here at Wapping Broadcast we want to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible for you. In addition to our broadcast facilities, we provide additional services and extras free or charge.

1. Green Room

We have a large Green Room, complete with large screen TV and comfortable sofas which can be used by talent and crew alike, during or in-between filming. The Green Room includes an emergency staircase leading straight to the studio for when your talent is required quickly!

2. Make Up/ Dressing Room

Opposite the Green Room is the dressing room. Conveniently located and equipped with fully lit mirrors and clothes rails. The dressing room can be yours free or charge to use on the day/s of your visit, providing you let us know in advance.

3. Canteen/ Dining Area

On the second floor we have a large canteen area complete with kettles, toasters, microwave, TV and most importantly that table football. A local Deli visit Wapping Broadcast on a daily basis offering a range of sandwiches, salads etc. They are available to pre-order and we can provide you with menus when you make an inquiry/booking. In addition, there are drinks and snacks vending machines located on the first floor for those emergency hunger pangs!

4. Parking

One of the things which make Wapping Broadcast a unique studio location in London is that we have off road parking, available for FREE! All we ask is that you tell us when you make your booking how many vehicles you will need parking for. We also have a drive in facility so kit can literally be driven into a loading bay outside the studios, save any heavy carrying!
