The Passion Translation | John Study | Dr. Brian Simmons

Lesson 12 Reading: John 3

Self Pace Study: Explore the Heart of God

“You shouldn’t be amazed by my statement, ‘You must be born from above!’ For the Spirit-wind blows as it chooses. You can hear its sound, but you don’t know where it came from or where it’s going. So it is within the hearts of those who are Spirit-born!” -John 3:7-8 TPT

You are born from above! Think on that. You are wind-swept—in, by, and through the Spirit of God—and you know mysteries! was an aged, learned, and upright leader in Israel, but he was unable to “catch” the wind. His heart was earthbound. Yours is not. Like Christ, you exist in two realms simultaneously!

“No one has risen into the heavenly realm except the Son of Man who also exists in .” -John 3:13 TPT

You are seated in the heavenly realm in Christ—Now live like it, and bring heaven to earth!

Questions:

1. What does it mean to be reborn from above? How does one act who is born from above?

2. Look at John 3:7-8; 1Pet. 1:22-23; Col. 2:13; and 1Pet. 1:2-4. What aspects of your new “born-again” life do you see in these verses?

3. John said that was “the One who comes from above and is above everything and speaks of the highest realm of all!” (3:31) What did John mean by this, and how should this impact how we receive what Jesus said?
