@3parishesnews Sally Hoe http://3parishesnews.wordpress.com 7 SCHOOL

October 2019 It has been a very busy first term here at Fritwell with many exciting learning opportunities, new resources and a wonderful atmosphere in school. A new Primary Leadership Team has been voted in with 2 members from each class representing the school. We have had our first leadership meeting and the children have decided which charities we want to support and explored some fresh ideas for school. They are looking for a local company to sponsor them with a small budget of £100. Please get in touch if you can help. Alongside our Primary Leadership Team, our Eco Warriors have also been elected. They have started at looking at some projects to further improve our school. Once again, we were indebted to the community for their kind donations of food for the Bicester Food Bank as part of our Harvest celebrations. We had a wonderful service at St. Olave’s with all the children performing a range of songs, drama, poems and displaying some lovely artwork.

October also saw our Macmillan coffee afternoon which was superbly supported and raised £292.72. This was a tremendous effort and the range of cake donations was incredible. Our enterprising FoFS committee organised another superb event with our ‘Scavenger Hunt’ at the end of September. It was a great event with many families competing to be the first back with the completed clues. Our thanks go to the organisers. On October 10th, we took part in Hello Yellow Day to raise awareness of mental health issues within children with all our pupils wearing yellow to school. We were visited by the press to tell them about the importance of mental health and were featured in the Mail. After our successful application to the National Lottery Community Fund we were awarded £10,000 to improve and renovate our outside provision. This will be a great space for our nursery children through to Year 2 as well as our Stay & Play group. We contributed money towards this project and consider it a valuable addition to our school.

Upcoming events 10th November – FoFS Fireworks 30th November – FoFS Christmas Fayre

It has been great to show so many parents around our wonderful school who are interested in both school and nursery places. If you know anyone who would like to visit or know more about what we offer, please pass on details of the school office (01869 345283) where our staff will make an appointment for me to meet and discuss their children’s very special educational journey.

Fritwell Forget Me Not Club For our meeting on 9th October we visited The Royal Hospital Chelsea. The weather was kind to us yet again. We first had a talk by a tour guide (Chelsea Pensioner) and saw a short film on how the hospital first looked and was ex- plained in great detail of how you are accepted as a Chelsea Pensioner. The buildings were all well maintained and the gardens kept lovely. Considering the Chelsea Flower Show was in the grounds you would not have known anyone had been there. Another great day and definitely worth a visit. Our next meeting is in the hall on the 12th No- vember at 1pm. It’s a Fish and Chip lunch and a cup of tea. The cost is £5.50.
