We would like to inform you that, in view of the closure of the Joint Operational Programme Romania-Ukraine-Republic of Moldova 2007-2013, the final balance at programme level has been agreed by the European Commission and the unspent pre-financing was reimbursed on the 29th of June 2021. In this context, we would like to thank you for your contribution to the implementation of the programme and reaching its key objective of a stronger and more sustainable economic and social development of the programme regions. In case you consider that there are negative implications for your organization, you may send your views on the programme closure. We would also like to remind you that the closure of the joint operational programme does not prejudice the European Commission's right to undertake, at a later stage, financial corrections vis- à-vis the Joint Managing Authority or the project beneficiaries if the final amount of the programme or the projects has to be readjusted as a result of controls carried out after the closure date. As you know, the beneficiaries and partners of the projects have obligations related to the keeping of all the documents related to the project and allowing access to these documents and to the sites and locations of the project implementation to the European Union competent bodies and to the Joint Managing Authority (JMA) up to seven years from the date of payment of the balance for the project (or request for recovery). Although this date may be far beyond the requirements of your national legislation, it needs to be followed in relation to your project. Therefore, although the programme was closed, your involvement might still be needed in the following period, in accordance with the legal provisions in force1.
