City Sponsored Learn to Ice Skate

Lessons held at ibp Ice Center, 3808 Stadium Drive, Sunday evenings Session I October 8- November 12, 2017 Session II January 21- March 4, 2018 (no class February 4)

Learn to Skate/ Skating Skills / Ages 5 to Adult

ibp Ice Center program is an excellent introduction to ice skating for individuals ages 5 years old to adult interested in learning the basic skills necessary to enjoy recreational skating or enter into a youth hockey or figure skating program.

 10:1 Student/Coach Ratio  Classes consist of 30 minute group lesson and 30 minute practice session.  Participants are divided into small groups according to skating ability and age.

Level 1 Group lessons: Ages 5-Adult 5:15 pm - 5:45 pm PRACTICE TIME BOTH LEVELS: 5:45 pm - 6:15 pm Level 2 Group lessons: Ages 5-Adult 6:15 pm - 6:45 pm

ALL SESSIONS ARE 6 CLASSES - Pre-Registration Required

 Each group limited to 20 skaters.  Please arrive 20 minutes prior to class.  Complimentary Skate rental. Skaters must provide own helmet and gloves.  Skaters should dress in layers of comfortable clothing that will not restrict movement.  Parents, spectators, and siblings are not allowed on the ice or in the players’ benches during class.

Learn to Skate Classes

Level 1: Ages 5-Adult This class is for ages 5 - adult who have little or no formal skating instruction or experience. Emphasis is on falling down, getting up, standing, marching, two foot turns, stopping (snow plow), forward gliding, forward striding, swizzles, etc.

Level 2: Skaters that have completed Level 1 Skater who have participated in Level 1 or have had prior skating experience. Emphasis on forward gliding, forward swizzles, back wiggles, pushing and one foot skating, backward and forward skating, crossovers, turns, stopping skills, and balance skating techniques.
