Micah 1:2-4 2 Hear, O peoples, all of you; Listen, O earth and all it contains, And let the Lord God be a witness against you, The Lord from His holy temple. 3 For behold, the LORD is coming forth from His place. He will come down and tread on the high places of the earth. 4 The mountains will melt under Him, And the valleys will be split, Like wax before the fire, Like water poured down a steep place Micah 1:5-6 5 All this is for the rebellion of And for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the rebellion of Jacob? Is it not Samaria? What is the high place of Judah? Is it not Jerusalem? 6 For I will make Samaria a heap of ruins in the open country, Planting places for a vineyard. I will pour her stones down into the valley, And will lay bare her foundations. Micah 1:7

All of her idols will be smashed, All of her earnings will be burned with fire, And all of her images I will make desolate, For she collected them from a harlot's earnings, And to the earnings of a harlot they will return. Samaria

Micah 1:10-16

10 Tell it not in , Weep not at all. At Beth Aphrah Heb. sounds like dust roll yourself in the dust.

11 Go on your way, inhabitant of Sha-phir, sounds like the word beautiful, in shameful nakedness. (won’t be beautiful long)

The inhabitant of Zaanan sounds like the word exit, won’t exit, does not escape. The lamentation of Beth Ezel: sounds like nearby city. No one to help "He will take from you its support." Micah 1:10-16

12 For the inhabitant of Maroth means bitterness, Becomes weak waiting for good,Because a calamity has come down from the Lord To the gate of Jerusalem. They will know plenty of bitterness. Lachish Heb. sounds like the horses, they will go to the horses to fight but will flee instead. Moresheth (Micah’s home town) sounds like betrothed, pass from the rule of one husband Judah - the invading army. Micah 1:10-16

Aczib sounds like deceitful or disappointment it will fall quickly and be deceived and disappointed. . Mareshah related to the word possessor or heir, invadeing army will soon possess it King fled to Adullam, the leader of Israel will have to his in Adullam. Tell it not in Tellington! Wail not in Wailing! Dust Manor will eat dirt, Dressy Town will flee naked. Safefold will not save, Allchester's walls are down, A bitter dose drinks Bitterton. Toward Jerusalem, City of Peace, The Lord sends war. Harness the war-steeds, O men of Barstead! Zion's beginning of sinning, Equal to Israel's crimes. To Welfare a last farewell! For Trapping trapped Israel's kings Woe to those who scheme iniquity, Who work out evil on their beds! When morning comes, they do it, For it is in the power of their hands. They covet fields and then seize them, And houses, and take them away. They rob a man and his house, A man and his inheritance.

12 I will surely assemble all of you, Jacob, I will surely gather the remnant of Israel. I will put them together like in the fold; Like a flock in the midst of its pasture They will be noisy with men. 13 The breaker goes up before them; They break out, pass through the gate, and go out by it. So their king goes on before them, And the LORD at their head. The Lord is our MICAH

“Who is like unto Jehovah?’ THE SECOND ORACLE

AN INDICTMENT AGAINST LEADERS :1-3

1 And I said, “Hear now, heads of Jacob And rulers of the house of Israel. Is it not for you to know justice? 2 You who hate good and love evil, Who tear off their skin from them And their flesh from their bones, 3 And who eat the flesh of my people, Strip off their skin from them, Break their bones, And chop them up as for the pot And as meat in a kettle. Micah 3:8

But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the Lord, And of justice and might, To declare to Jacob his transgression And to Israel his sin. 1. He was full of Power 2. He was full of Judgment 3. He was full of Might Micah 3:11-12 Her leaders pronounce judgment for a bribe, Her instruct for a price, And her divine for money. Yet they lean on the LORD saying, “Is not the LORD in our midst? Calamity will not come upon us.” Therefore, on account of you, Zion will be plowed as a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of ruins, And the mountain of the temple will become high places of a forest. 27 :1 And it will come about in the last days That the mountain of the house of the LORD Will be established as the chief of the mountains. It will be raised above the hills, And the peoples will stream to it.

Isaiah 2:1-3 Micah 4:2 And many nations will come and say, “Come and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD And to the house of the God of Jacob, That He may teach us about His ways And that we may walk in His paths.” For from Zion will go forth the law, Even the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. Nine things that will happen in the last days 1. The Mountain of the house of the Lord is established in the top of the mountain. 2. It is exalted above the hills. 3. The people will flow into it. 4. Many nations will come. 5. They will say lets go to the house of the Lord. Nine things that will happen in the last days

6. He will teach us His ways 7. We will walk in His paths. 8. The Law shall go forth from Zion. 9. The Word shall go forth from Jerusalem. ZION

! Destine to be the spiritual metropolis of the whole world (Isa. 2:2-4) ! Pilgrims flocking to it from the four corners of the world of the world ! The law of the Lord will be accepted as universal ! It will be an age of universal peace Micah 4:3 And He will judge between many peoples And render decisions for mighty, distant nations. Then they will hammer their swords into plowshares And their spears into pruning hooks; Nation will not lift up sword against nation, And never again will they train for war. A Promise of Prosperity 4 Freedoms From Micah 4:1-5 Freedom from ignorance - He will teach us His ways (Know the truth) Freedom from war - Neither shall they learn war anymore (Blessed are the peace makers) Freedom from want - everyone shall sit under his vine and under his fig (Psalm 23) Freedom from fear - no one shall make them afraid ( He will keep him is perfect peace) 35 Micah 4:9-10 Now why do you cry aloud? Is there no king in your midst? Has your counselor perished? For pangs have seized you like a woman in labor. Be in pain, and labor to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, Like a woman in birth pangs. For now you shall go forth from the city, You shall dwell in the field, And to you shall go. There you shall be delivered; :1-2

1 Now muster yourselves in troops, daughter of troops; They have laid siege against us; With a rod they will smite the judge of Israel on the cheek. 2 But as for you, Ephrathah, Too little to be among the clans of Judah, From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, From the days of eternity. (Colossians1:16-17) The Coming Micah 5:1-2 ! Born in Bethlehem as David was ! Isaiah foretold his birth ! Micah foretold his village birth ! In Matt. The Magi would use this verse to help find this child who was to become king (Matt. 2:1-6) :6-7

6 With what shall I come to the LORD And bow myself before the God on high? Shall I come to Him with burnt offerings, With yearling calves? 7 Does the LORD take delight in thousands of rams, In ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I present my first-born for my rebellious acts, The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?

See Matthew 22:35-40 & James 1:27

Micah 6:8 Matthew 22:35-40 (ESV) And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” James 1:27 (ESV) 27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
