Prime Minister Paid Official Visit to the Republic of Moldova and Participated in the Meeting of the Prime Ministers of GUAM Member States 5-6.10.2018 CHISINAU • In the frames of his official visit, PM Mamuka Bakhtadze held a meeting with his Moldovan counterpart Pavel Filip and participated in the meeting of heads of Governments of Member States of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM. • Discussed: Strengthening GUAM, further deepening bilateral relations, common challenges, transport infrastructure projects, development of GUAM-Japan and GUAM-US formats. • In the course of the visit in Moldova: - and Moldova signed an Agreement on Exchange and Protection of Classified Information; - Georgia and Ukraine signed Agreement on Travelling with ID Cards. MORE NATO-Georgia Commission (NGC) Held in Brussels 3-4.10.2018 BRUSSELS • Defense Minister Levan Izoria participated in the NATO-Georgia Commission meeting in the frames of the NATO Defense Ministerial and held a bilateral meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. • In a meeting of the NATO-Georgia Commission, Ministers expressed concern about Russia’s military build-up in the region, and agreed to continue working together to address regional security challenges. “Georgia is among our closest partners. At our Summit in July, Allied leaders reaffirmed that Georgia will join the Alliance… We call on Russia to end its recognition of and and to withdraw its forces from these regions of Georgia” - Secretary General stated. • During the bilateral meeting, US Secretary of Defense James Mattis thanked Minister Izoria 's exemplary defense reforms and contributions to the NATO Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan. Parliament Hosted Inaugural Plenary Session of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine Inter-Parliamentary Assembly 5-6.10.2018 • Speaker of the of Georgia , President of Moldovan Parliament Andrian Candu, Chairman of the of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy, Member of the Ana Gomes and the President of the Baltic Parliamentary Assembly Valerijus Simulik opened the session. • Discussed: Coordination of efforts of the three countries for EU integration, the role of the in this process, Black Sea region security and countering anti-Western propaganda. 3.10.2018 TBILISI The Department of State of the United States of America allocated 499,675 USD to Georgia to boost strategic communications of the country. It is the first large-scale project awarded to the Government of Georgia, aiming to raise awareness of Georgian population on western integration process, thus making it more resilient towards anti-western propaganda and disinformation.
