ROLEX CONTINUES TO SUPPORT TEAM AS ’S TIMEKEEPER AND FOUNDING PARTNER

Geneva, , 19 September 2019 – From 20–22 September, the third annual Laver Cup will take place in Geneva. Over the course of the three days, six of ’s best male tennis players will do battle with their counterparts from the rest of the world in one of the sport’s most innovative team tournaments.

Inaugurated in 2017 and held each year in a different international city, the Laver Cup was brought to life by Rolex Testimonee and 20-time ® men’s singles champion . The Swiss icon named the tournament after his childhood hero and fellow Testimonee, , one of the greatest players to ever grace the .

Featuring singles and doubles matches, the tournament enables the world’s elite players to put their individual pursuits aside to work as a team. As a Founding Partner and Official Timekeeper, Rolex has been instrumental in creating the Laver Cup. The tournament’s principles of sportsmanship and teamwork resonate perfectly with the Swiss watch manufacturer’s vision of perpetual excellence through innovation and continuous evolution.

In 1978 Rolex forged a seminal partnership with The Championships, Wimbledon, to become the Official Timekeeper of tennis’ oldest and most revered tournament. Since then, Rolex has continued to support the game at every level. It is now the Official Timekeeper at all four Grand Slam tournaments, partners with the major organizations that administer the sport worldwide and counts some of the finest players to have ever played as members of its family of Testimonees. the perfect captain One such Testimonee is Björn Borg, who, like Federer, has become intimately linked with the Laver Cup through his role as ’s captain since its inception. One of the most skilled and distinguished players in tennis’ history, Borg won 11 Grand Slam singles titles during his illustrious career. More than 30 years after retiring as a player, he continues to enjoy success, having guided Team Europe to consecutive Laver Cup titles in 2017 and 2018. Another win this year would complete an undefeated reign before he stands down from the role while also setting an imposing benchmark for future captains.

Elite competitors Joining Borg in Geneva as members of Team Europe will be three fellow Testimonees, including Federer, who makes his third appearance at the tournament. He has enjoyed a scintillating run of form at the past two editions of the tournament, scoring more points for his team (12) than any other player.

Rolex Testimonee returns to the Laver Cup, having competed in 2017 but not last year. The Austrian has developed into one of the world’s most exciting players and enjoyed a highly successful 2019 season, winning his first ATP Masters 1000 title at Indian Wells in March and appearing in a second consecutive Roland- Garros final in June.

Finally, three Rolex Testimonees will make their Laver Cup debut this year, with of joining Federer and Thiem on Team Europe, while Canadian and American will represent Team World. Tsitsipas has broken into the world’s top 10 this year following his run to the semi-finals in January, while Raonic brings a wealth of experience to draw on, having reached the final at Wimbledon in 2016.
