North Carolina 1 Melissa Birdsell 2019 HONORS MORE NOTES QUINN DALY DOMINATING WINTHROP -Preseason All-CAA Honorable Mention -Elon defeated Winthrop 23-4 on February 20. With it came multiple program records: BELLA FELDMAN -Elon's previous largest margin of defeat came on Jan. 31, 2015, when it beat Kennesaw State 24-8. The 24 goals in that -CAA Rookie of the Week | Feb. 11 game mark the most in program history. MAE MCGLYNN -The 23 goals are the most by a CAA program since Feb. 25, 2015, when Delaware beat La Salle 24-6. -CAA Player of the Week | Feb. 11 -The eight draw controls for Kaley Thompson and Gillian Curran are the third-most in a single game behind only Stephanie KALEY THOMPSON -CAA Rookie of the Week | Feb. 26 Asher's 10 against Coastal Carolina and nine against Virginia Tech during the 2018 season. -The win is Elon's first since April 23, 2017, when it beat Hofstra 15-7. -The 14 first-half goals mark the most in a single half for the Phoenix since it scored 13 in the first half of the April 23 win over Hofstra. -With 31 points in the game, it marks the most in a game by a CAA program thus far this season and the most by a CAA program since Towson had 35 on Feb. 18, 2018, against Georgetown with JMU finishing with 31 points on the same day against UConn. -Kaley Thompson's eight points in the contest are the second-most by a CAA athlete this season and the four assists are the most. Her four assists tied for the most in a game in program history.

MEET OUR STAFF -Josh Hexter is in his sixth season as head coach at Elon. He is the only head coach in program history. -A 1995 Assumption College graduate, Hexter was a four-year standout defenseman on the lacrosse team, earning team captain and NECLA All-Star honors as a senior. In 1995, he became the first player in Assumption history to earn a spot in the East-West New England All-Star Game. -Before arriving at Elon, Hexter spent eight seasons at Duke as assistant coach for five seasons and associate head coach for three. Overall, Duke won 119 games, won three ACC regular-season titles and an ACC Tournament title while reaching five national semifinals. -Beth Ellis Roberts, now in her third year on staff, was a four-year defender at North Carolina from 2009-12. Along the way, she made three appearances in the Final Four and advanced to the national championship game in 2009. -Katrina Geiger is in her first season as assistant coach at Elon. She played her college lacrosse at Loyola (Md.), where she earned All-Patriot League honors twice and went to three NCAA Tournaments.
