Italy have a one cm per man height advantage in the line out and a three kg per man weight advantage in the scrum. • Italy’s tallest man is second row forward ALFIO LUCA MAMMANA, who stands at 197 cm (6ft 5ins) and is exactly the same height as Tonga’s tallest player, prop SAMIU TALIA’ULI.

The heavyweight division

• The combined weight of the Italy pack is 835 kg, which gives them a 30 kg advantage over Tonga in the scrum. • Italy have the heaviest man on the pitch in loosehead prop NICOLA QUAGLIO, who weighs in at 119 kg (18st 10lb). He will have a two kg advantage over his direct opponent in the scrum, ELISI PULU, who is Tonga’s heaviest player.

• Italy’s fly half is the second youngest player in the tournament at 18 years and three months and is just three days older than England’s fly half, GEORGE FORD.

The man in the middle

• GREG GARNER of England takes charge of this match, his fourth in IRB Junior World Championship competition, having officiated in New Zealand’s 92-0 win over Wales, Ireland’s 30-13 win over Scotland and New Zealand’s 37-7 win over Australia earlier in the tournament. He only issued one yellow card in those three matches.
