She was the first woman to receive the prestigious Tandy Award for Achievement in Film Studies for this collaboration among Film, Journalism, and Public Relations departments, as well as for founding a Film Industry Library of industry-specific trade publications and reports, becoming the first student curator of the RTVF Laserdisc library, creating and hosting a daily entertainment news program for the school’s radio station (88.7 FM), and leveraging her role as film reviewer for the TCU Daily Skiff to gain enhanced access to “trade-only” film screenings, press junkets, and celebrity interviews - which also earned her a pre-graduation job offer with the Dallas PR agency representing Warner Brothers and Paramount Pictures. Early Career

As she furthered her career in the corporate sector, she spent 3 years as a film reviewer for The Met, a major Dallas alt-weekly publication. Her love for independent, art-house, and genre films inspired a deep love for film festivals, where early volunteer roles ultimately earned her positions as Director of Programming and Artistic Director for The Asian Film Festival of Dallas. Current Career

Her work with festivals across North America brought her to a role with international film distributor Well Go USA Entertainment, where she spent her tenure as their Marketing, Publicity, and Communications Manager. She was the company's press contact, content marketing lead, global film festival liaison, and English subtitles editor. She was also their trailer development lead, garnering four nominations and two Golden Trailer Awards for Copywriting and Art Direction.

Orren launched her own company in 2016. She is a marketing consultant, writer, and US localization specialist, partnering with startups, corporations, nonprofits, and broadcast companies across the globe to build brands, grow businesses, connect with customers, and create subtitles you want to read.

Over six years in the making, director Na Hong-jin’s meticulously crafted follow-up to the globally acclaimed THE YELLOW SEA and THE CHASER (his third to premiere at the Festival de Cannes) smashed box office records upon its debut in South Korea, where fans are already making return viewings to catch new clues and debate what’s sure to be the most talked-about ending of 2016. ------

Back with his first film in 8 years, legendary Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao-hsien wowed this year's Cannes Film Festival (where he won Best Director) with his awe-inspiring THE ASSASSIN - a wondrous take on the traditional wuxia film.

The story is simple, if elusive - in 9th-century China, Nie Yinniang is a young woman who was abducted in childhood from a decorated general and raised by a nun who trained her in the martial arts. After 13 years of exile, she is returned to the land of her birth as an exceptional assassin, with orders to kill her betrothed husband-to-be.

She must confront her parents, her memories, and her long-repressed feelings in a choice to sacrifice the man she loves or break forever with the sacred way of the righteous assassins. Rich with shimmering, breathing texture and punctuated by brief but unforgettable bursts of action, THE ASSASSIN is a like none made before it. ------

Now he's in the custody of Captain Zhang (Sun Honglei), and has one chance to avoid execution - turn informant and help the cops bring down the powerful cartel he’s been cooking for. Over the next 72 sleepless hours, the sting spins out of control, the line between duty and recklessness is blurred, and it becomes unclear who actually has the upper hand.

From Johnnie To, master of the Hong Kong crime thriller, comes an unnerving thrill ride through the modern criminal underworld. ------

When a mysterious virus breaks out across South Korea, the infected transform into the murderous undead in wildly successful 2016 thriller TRAIN TO BUSAN, an official New York Times Critic’s Pick that Slant Magazine credits with scare tactics “among the most distinctive the zombie canon has ever seen.”

As terrified travelers fight for their lives on a bullet train from hell, the result is a gory high-speed collision between the rich and the poor, the living and the undead, and the best and worst of human nature.

When some among them prove willing to sell their soul for a shot at survival, trust may prove to be a luxury even the richest passengers cannot afford. ------

THE MAGDALEN HOUSE CELEBRATES 31 YEARS WITH ELIZABETH VARGAS New York Times best-selling author to serve as keynote speaker at annual “Leave A Legacy” gala dinner event

[DALLAS, TX] On Thursday, October 11th, The Magdalen House is proud to host award-winning anchor and correspondent Elizabeth Vargas at their Leave a Legacy: An Evening with Elizabeth Vargas dinner, to be held at the Dallas Auction Gallery, located in the heart of the Design District.

As an award-winning anchor and correspondent, Vargas has traveled the world covering breaking news stories, reporting in-depth investigations, and conducting groundbreaking interviews. Currently the co-anchor of ABC’s 20/20 with David Muir, The New York Times has credited Vargas with reinvigorating the newsmagazine format with her “intellectually brave” reporting.

In September 2016, Vargas’s memoir Between Breaths: A Memoir of Panic and Addiction was released by Grand Central Publishing. A special episode of 20/20 aired in conjunction with the book’s release, in which Vargas and Diane Sawyer discussed Vargas’ experiences, explored the link between anxiety and alcohol abuse, and interviewed experts as well as people recovering from addiction.

“More than 108,000 women are alcohol-dependent in the Dallas County area, and The Magdalen House has successfully helped these women recover from alcoholism,” said Lisa Kroencke, Magdalen House Executive Director. “We believe that our no-cost treatment program, provided in a safe and supportive environment, with accurate information about the problem and the solution, will help women recover,” she said.

“Vargas's commitment to advocating for women, as well as her experience and understanding of alcoholism, qualifies her to empower countless Dallas women,” Kroencke said. “Her message is consistent with our mission, and spreads hope to alcoholic women and their families,” she said.

“We believe that helping others builds a bridge of service and support, and we invite the entire Dallas Community to join this fight by participating in our 31st Anniversary Celebration,” Kroencke said.

Unf*ck Your Habitat: You’re Better Than Your Mess by Rachel Hoffman January 9, 2017

Irreverent, often hilarious, but ultimately practical and applicable, this debut collection of insights and no-nonsense strategies offer a lively, contemporary perspective with solutions designed to transform the disharmony of a chaotic home into a “safe space” both attainable and sustainable.

For those unfamiliar with the seductive yet austere forms of pursuing serenity via clutter eradication, the much-lauded “methods” of the recent past are daunting at best, and particularly if the state of your home is reaching levels of Hoarders-level insanity. First-time author Hoffman’s approach to examining and reclaiming unmanageable living spaces offers non-judgmental solutions in a “plain talk” package, fed with judicious helpings of both sass and savvy.

While disappointingly scant in corroborating theories or meritable statistics to support the ideas presented, a clear and methodical dissemination of underlying causes is offered without equivocation or apology. Thankfully, the common failures associated with lazier “cult of clean” self-helpers are also missing, including over-reliance on embellished product inventories and checklists that favor process over results, or through the shallow rehash of interior design tips masquerading as transformative insight and discovery.

Most notable, however, is the inclusion of a critical element frequently overlooked, glossed-over, or simply ignored among editions espousing methods to “fix your flat”: the deeply human, often-painful emotional components of a home giving in to entropy. Woven among the wisecracks and advice is an astute examination of physical, developmental, and behavioral challenges often present and in concert with a home falling into organizational anarchy.

Readers in need of this title won’t have it easy: while much of the message seems simple on its face, and implementation tactics sensible to the core, a good deal of self-awareness, tenacity, and grit will be needed to achieve the title’s promised status.

In turns humorous, pragmatic, earnest, and approachable, this refreshing alternative to impossibly overblown expectations and DIY disappointments doesn’t promise a magazine-ready domicile, but offers a saucy, modern method to tame and reclaim your Home Sweet Home. –Crystal Orren

Crystal Orren June 15, 2020 Movie Moments, LLC 3042 Rambling Drive Dallas, Texas 75228

Dear Crystal:

It takes an average of 3 minutes for a person to check their bank balance online. 3 minutes to decide if they can afford groceries and their medicine this week. 3 minutes to enter a Google search for "Free Medical Services Near Me."

It’s an unknown and difficult time in America. The symptoms and effects of pandemic – job loss, illness, and the daily cost of living – have had a catastrophic impact on the growing number of vulnerable, overlooked, and underserved people in need of care. This is especially true of our patients, many of whom are counted among the “working poor” and were already living on the economic edge.

But we’re still here – increasing staff, medicine, and supplies to meet the needs of anyone who walks through our door.

In the 3 minutes it takes to check in at The Agape Clinic, our patients can be on their way to a healthier life. 3 minutes could mean the first steps toward solving a years-long undiagnosed illness, preventing or halting a life- threatening disease, or the time it takes to get a woman to safety .

We are incredibly grateful to the patients, individuals, and foundations whose generous contributions make our work possible, but further outreach and connection is critical – and the reason we’re reaching out to you.

We need an agency with experience as a philanthropic partner, willing to offer pro bono services to help us make an unprecedented impact through advertising campaigns, marketing, and publicity efforts.

Your award-winning campaigns give us hope that such things are possible. Can you help us achieve this goal?

Today, we thank you for your 3 minutes – and hope to meet with you soon for a few more.

On behalf of our entire staff, our very best wishes that you and yours stay healthy, happy, and well.

Very Sincerely Yours—

Stephanie Bohan Executive Director, The Agape Clinic
