(Hong Kong, 2 October 2015) As a world-class tourist attraction in Hong Kong, Ngong Ping 360 is an advocate of local art and show business, continually rolling out new initiatives to attract visitors. Further to our first-ever collaboration with Mr Raman Hui, the “Father of Shrek” in relation to his movie Monster Hunt, we are now partnering with Pegasus Motion Pictures Limited in a crossover project based on its movie . The project will involve a series of activities designed to provide guests with a refreshing sensory tourism experience.

Ngong Ping 360 and Ip Man 3 movie series both hail from Hong Kong and have earned worldwide acclaim. Ngong Ping 360 was named among “10 of the world’s most amazing cable car experiences” by CNN.com in the USA and selected as one of the “Cable cars: 10 amazing rides around the world” by the Daily Telegraph in the UK. With a similar amount of international renown, the Ip Man movie series is an exemplar of Chinese-language movies. This crossover project will bolster the development of Hong Kong’s tourism and film industries, and enhance the status of professional stuntmen in the industry.

The world’s first Ip Man Experience Hall to promote the Hong Kong Spirit

At a press conference today announcing the project, Ngong Ping 360 Managing Director Dr Stella Kwan, Chairman of Pegasus Entertainment Holdings Limited and Ip Man 3 Producer Mr Raymond Wong and the movie’s lead actor Mr Donnie Yen shared the concepts, objectives and details behind the collaboration. Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Mr Gregory So and Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) Executive Director Mr Anthony Lau were also present to show their support for the continual innovation and sustainable development of the tourism industry.

Dr Kwan said that “Ngong Ping 360 is a world-class tourist attraction. We are happy to collaborate with Ip Man 3 for yet another novel crossover project between the tourism and film industries. Ngong Ping 360 and the Ip Man movie series both hail from Hong Kong, and are well received by overseas tourists and local audiences. We have much in common and have built rapport swiftly. Leveraging our synergy, we will be able to create a multi-sensory experience with a distinctive Hong Kong style. We hope that this crossover project will attract more local citizens and visitors, and inject new elements into Hong Kong tourism.”

Mr So praised Ngong Ping 360 for its efforts in advocating Hong Kong tourism development. He said, “Ngong Ping 360 is a unique attraction in Hong Kong. It has often come up with brand new ideas to offer guests amazing travel experiences on top of its world-class cable car journey. We are glad that Ngong Ping 360 has kept up its efforts to drive innovation during the current challenging situation. This crossover project with the film industry will give impetus to the long term development of both industries.”

Mr Lau said that the HKTB fully supports the project and noted that “Ngong Ping 360 x Ip Man 3 will be a promotional highlight project of this year’s Hong Kong WinterFest. As winter is usually a peak tourist season, the HKTB will invite travel industry and media delegations to come to Hong Kong and learn about local tourist attractions and special features. HKTB hopes to attract overseas guests to

2/12 Ngong Ping 360’s Ip Man Experience Hall by introducing the collaboration through HKTB’s official website, social media platforms and publication materials.”

Mr Wong said he looked forward to the project. “The life philosophy behind Ip Man echoes the Lion Rock spirit: one should never give up no matter how difficult the situation is, one should always confront challenges courageously and one should help the weak with all one’s might. Likewise, in the tourist and film industries or industries of any other kind in Hong Kong, consistent perseverance and a can-do spirit we will overcome the difficulties and hardship caused of the current adverse social and economic climate. Like many filmmakers in Hong Kong, with their unyielding and indomitable spirit, mainland-Hong Kong co-production have grown in the past few years, which has helped Hong Kong’s film industry to recover. We long to see our industry blossom and attract larger audiences to local movies.”

Donnie Yen makes first appearance at Stage 360 to motivate Hong Kong’s stuntmen

Similar to Ngong Ping 360, Mr Donnie Yen is a keen supporter of the long-term development of Hong Kong’s tourism and film industries. To support Stage 360, he attended the show and personally encouraged a group of hardworking Hong Kong stuntmen. He said that “many artists are not able to showcase their expertise due to external limitations. Stage 360 provides a platform for talented stuntmen to shine, and offers them an opportunity to perform in front of international audiences. I am happy to see that stuntmen at Stage 360 are able to demonstrate creativity within a limited space, through such innovations as a single actor playing multiple roles and even operating more than 10 sets of wires and changing scenes vigorously. These are all testament to the Hong Kong spirit of hard work and perseverance.”

Ngong Ping 360 x Ip Man 3 provides dedicated care to the community

Ngong Ping 360 x Ip Man 3 has also incorporated an element of community care into the project. Through liaison with and recruitment efforts by Tung Chung Safe and Healthy City, Ngong Ping 360 provided complimentary cable car rides and Stage 360 tickets to 70 students from the Tung Chung Catholic School (Primary Section). During their visit, the students participated in an interactive kung fu session led by Mr Donnie Yen.

Furthermore, guests who purchase a Ngong Ping Stage Pass or Stage 360 ticket from 27 November 2015 to 31 January 2016 will gain free admission to the Ip Man Experience Hall. Ngong Ping 360 will donate 10% of proceeds from the package and ticket sales during the period, after deducting operating costs, to The Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong, on behalf of both Ngong Ping 360 and

3/12 Pegasus Motion Pictures Limited. Apart from visiting the Ip Man Experience Hall and watching the kung fu performance at Stage 360, guests will be able to contribute to helping the underprivileged of the community.

Dr Kwan added that “with the slowdown of inbound tourists, visitor numbers to Ngong Ping 360 this summer dropped 9% from the same period last year. During July and August, guests from mainland China accounted for 34% for the total, guests from Western and other Asian countries comprised 44% and local guests took up 22%. With the Ngong Ping 360 x Ip Man 3 project, we believe we will attract more international and local guests to Ngong Ping 360.”
