Dayton High-A Central League jumped to an early 4 -0 lead in the first three thans to six walks from Captains starter Hunter Gaddis. The Captains got two runs back in the bottom of the third on a Will Brennan home . In the sixth Dayton extended their lead to 7-2 with three more walks, two singles and a . Lake County got two runs back in the bottom of the on a José Tena RBI to make the East Division W L GB score 7-4. In the bottom of the seventh the Captains took the lead. Brayan Rocchio doubled home two runs bringing Aaron Bracho to the plate down by one run. LAST TIME OUT: Allen tossed a career high six innings of baseball last Wednesday at West Michigan. He surrendered just three base runners with five . The game remained tied at 0-0 all the way through regulation and forced for the first time in the Captains’ season. The Captains did not score in the top of the 10th, and the Whitecaps walked it off in the bottom of the frame when Kellen Rholl balked to bring home the winning run from third base. The Captains lost, 1-0.

COLLEGE ACCOLADES: Allen was named a Preseason All-American by several outlets ahead of the shortened 2020 season and was also named the 2020 Conference USA Preseason Pitcher of the Year. Allen racked up five C-USA Pitcher of the Week honors during his career, including in 2020 after pitching a seven-inning, one-hitter with 13 strikeouts against George Mason. Allen was twice honored with All-CUSA nods as a position player. He was named as nd st a on the All-CUSA 2 Team as a freshman and on the All-CUSA 1 Team as a sophomore. He was named a Freshman All-American by three different outlets in 2018.

TEAM USA: In 2019, Allen became the first FIU Panther ever selected to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.

2020 DRAFT: Cleveland selected Allen in the second round (56th overall) of the 2020 draft, which was shortened to five rounds. Allen was Cleveland’s third selection in the draft, following SS Carson Tucker (1st Round – 23rd overall) and RHP Tanner Burns (CBA Round – 36th overall).

TWO -WAY: Allen was a two-way player at Florida International University, playing first base when he wasn’t pitching. He was even named to the All -CUSA 2nd Team as a freshman and the All-CUSA 1st Team as a sophomore, both as a utility player. In three seasons at FIU, Allen played 50 games at first base. He batted .297/.362/.410 (.773 OPS) during his career with six home runs, eight doubles and 23 RBI. As a freshman, when Allen played the most as a two-way player, he posted a career-best .390 OBP.
