Joanne Bevilacqua was remembered for her dedication to the Tilton School in Haverhill and the children she used to teach there. A plaque was unveiled by her siblings Joseph and Maria during an emotional ceremony held last Monday, June 10th. The teaching staff and principal of the Tilton School were present, as well as Mayor James Fiorentini and School Superintendent James F. Scully. They all reminisced about what a special person Joanne was to her children and her community.

Memorial Sunday has been a long standing tradition of firefighters across the nation. It is a day to reflect on the many contributions made by firefighters to protect their fellow man and property. Every year members of the Lawrence Fire Department have followed that tradition, and on Sunday, June 9, 2013, our firefighters got together at Central Fire Station on Lowell Street to pay tribute to all active and retired Lawrence Firefighters who have passed away during the last year, according to tradition. The Memorial began with a Mass celebrated by Fr. Bill Waters, followed by a breakfast at the Relief’s Inn on Market Street. Guest speaker at the breakfast was Essex 14th District State Representative Diana DiZoglio. Also included in the breakfast program was the awarding of the Lawrence Fallen Firefighters Memorial Scholarship Recipients where 22 youngsters received scholarships.
