It was the first one we attended since graduating from Frogs Neck High School in New York. Okay it wasn’t Frogs Neck. (That’s a fictitious name to protect the innocent. Everything else is accurate.) We hadn’t really kept in touch with any of our classmates other than each other. This was because most of them stayed on the East Coast and didn’t get into show biz, as we did. We’ve spent our lives playing while they spent theirs actually working. Michael went into television and became a TV director and Marc followed his father’s footsteps into the music business, composing and producing for movies, television and records (for those of you who don’t know what records are, please consult Wikipedia). Our experience at the reunion was, to say the least, eye opening. Parts of it were so eye opening that we had to keep our eyes closed. Michael met a girl, now a woman, who he had a crush on from afar for many years. She didn’t give him the time of day in High School, but now that he had become a big-time Hollywood director, she was very interested. He wasn’t interested. She just wasn’t that interesting. Probably never was. If he had only realized then what he knows now, he might not have been obsessing about her all these years. Marc encountered high schoolers he had known back then and came to realize how different his perception of them was then versus now, how things had changed, grown, and not just the hairs from his nose. So….after about six months of mulling our experience, we looked at each other and said -yes we said it at the same exact time- “We need to write something about that.” And thus, Reunion was born. As we started discussing our experiences in High School with the perspective of age, and as we talked about our idea with our close friends, we realized that the issues we dealt with then and the issues we are dealing with now resonate with everyone. Expectations, dreams, hopes, failures… we all share these things. So sit back, relax and enjoy. Relive your high school memories if you dare. Laugh, cry, cringe. Welcome to Reunion. A NOTE FROM DIRECTOR & CHOREOGRAPHER KAY COLE I have the greatest respect and thanks for the writers, composers, producing team, designers, casting team, stage management team, and the wonderful company of actors. All of them....A DREAM TEAM. The rehearsals were collaborative, challenging but most of all FUN, FUN, FUN. We discovered the humor within each scene and song and that guided us to the humanity of each character. People we all know and love. Enjoy the show and perhaps you will be inspired to attend your next reunion or our Reunion again. CAST BIOS ALI AXELRAD* (Young Amelia) Ali is elated to be a part of Reunion!
