PrimaveraPro 2011 Database ….…………………………………….…………….….……. 17 PrimaveraPro 2011 At its second edition, PrimaveraPro gathered 1.110 professionals from 43 different countries (as well as 1.410 accredited journalists for the festival) attracted by a programmme divided equally between showcases that aimed to internationalise new bands and a programme of conferences and meetings whose objective was to favour a grouping together of the current independent music scene. The 2012 edition of PrimaveraPro will take place on the 30th and 31st May and on the 1st and 2nd June 2012. Representatives from the main associations and festivals of both countries explained the idiosyncrasies of their markets and outlined key points. Kaskie (Pitchfork, United States), Brian Hetherman, (Canadian Music Week, Canada), Carey Curtin (Bedlam Music Management / Canadian Blast, Canada). Casa de América presents: A practical guide to the independent music and festivals of Latin America Latin America is emerging as a big market for independent artists and companies, however it is not easy to get onto their circuit, what is the secret? What are the essential steps that one must take to establish a permanent relationship with this market. Speakers: Sylvie Piccolotto (Scatter Records, Brazil), Pablo Hierro Dorri (Scatter Records, Argentina), Juan Vázquez (Sony Music, Mexico), Miguel Angel Garrido (Gig’n’tik Music, Spain). Go East: New markets for independent music – Eastern Europe and Scandinavian countries The north and the east of Europe have become new points of interest for the music industry. Year after year, new festivals start up successfully and become a reference for international artists. Un-Convention – Spaces: the unique live experience Gigs in train stations, museums, libraries and on boats - we looked at how to use public spaces to create unique gigging experiences. How to programme, attract and negotiate with artists, selecting and using spaces, and, in essence, create festivals that are attractive for the public and make them profitable. Un-Convention - Sustainability for artists The music paradigm has changed in recent years, and live concerts have become an essential part of the income of artists. Some of these artists explained how they work to make live concerts their main source of income.
