Whether it is walking or by bicycle, our multidisciplinary educational team has developed tools for students to reinforce skills, knowledge and attitudes for life. “An invitation to innovate in education is in your hands” Cultural Heritage by Bike Day 1 Getting to know Santiago’s Historical Quarter. 10 AM - 2 PM “Everything which surrounds us is history” , which is a phrase that La Bicicleta Verde uses a a motto and applies by taking your students on a tour where they will identify the tangible and intangible heritage of the city. An entertaining way to educate future cyclists with regards to cohabitation, healthy lifestyles and the civility while discovering the main landmarks of the Chilean capital. Main landmarks of the tour: Plaza de la Constitución, Plaza de Armas and Santiago Cathedral. Themes: Culture and identity; solidarity of the environment, empathy and tolerance; diversity; self-care; identification and valorization of heritage, identity development; migration. Skills: • Relations and collaborations with others • Environmental appreciation • Exercising personal freedom and autonomy responsibly • Cohabitation • Following directions Bellavista and Markets Day 2 Bellavista and Santiago Markets. 10 AM - 2 PM An unforgettable experience where you will visit some the most famous markets in South America, and the main supply centres of Santiago. Places full of activity, aromas and colors where you can experience the authentic cultural fusion into which Chile is being transformed. The visit continues to the Bellavista neighborhood, famous for its bohemian history and a place where immigrants historically descended from Palestine, Korea, Peru and nowadays, Haiti. This activity gives you a new understanding of the cultural and history of the capital of Chile, which cannot be found in books. Skills: • Trust • Appreciation of the environment • Following instructions • Development of care • Exercising personal freedom and autonomy responsibly • Cohabitation Plant a Bike Day 3 Plant a Bike: A Practice of Teamwork, Communication and Respect. 10 AM - 12 PM A unique experience of group work, observation of competences and development of skills. Faced with the challenge of building a bike and creating a plan to drive its use, the students will get to know their strengths and weaknesses, reinforcing bonds with their teammates. Finally, they will experience another great surprise: the bike will be donated to a person or entity designated by the school. Themes: Teamwork; reflection; fears; environment; science. Skills: • Self-knowledge , • Relations and collaboration with others • Communication • Management and conflict resolution • Decision making • Personal initiative • Learning capacity • Solving problems • Reflexive attitude • Self-confidence Graffiti Tour and Workshop Day 4 Murals and graffitis: the beauty of street art 10 AM - 3 PM Santiago keeps information about its history on its walls and we want to show you how to interpret them in a journey that integrates popular culture, art and social movements. An entertaining walk where the students will learn to observe and analyze the main actors of this wave and what they seek to express, understanding how artistic manifestations can exist outside museums, The activity ends with a practical workshop by an urban artist who will guide the students in the creation of their own work. Skills: • critical thinking • appreciation or the environment • maintaining attention • reflective attitude • non-verbal and verbal communication Exploring Santiago Day 5 From Parque Bicentenario to Parque de la Familia. 11 AM - 2 PM A gentle pedaling through bike paths and parks full of historical, geographical and cultural points to highlight. We will start our bike ride in Parque Bicentenario, Vitacura, to cruise towards Providencia along the bike paths that line the Mapocho River. We’ll ride along the Parque de las Esculturas and the Parque de la Aviación and then continue through the Balmaceda Park and the Forest Park. Finally we will make our way to the Parque de los Reyes all the way to Parque de la Familia.
