It is a system change, a paradigm shift, a slow transition from one value system to another. It is like the ‘deflation’ of the standard kilo: a gradual process with fundamental consequences.5 Consequences that combine to produce a crisis in the units of measure.6 In this age of the digital revolution, Rotmans and other futurist romanticists see the same characteristics as the Industrial Revolution at the end of the nineteenth century. -

[email protected] and [email protected] Aim of the article The making of Fin de Copenhague took place a couple of months before the foundation of the Situationist International movement (1957–72) and is closely linked to it. In an increasingly politicized situationist movement, Fin de Copenhague and its sequel, Mémoires, were instrumentalized as“documents” – not as art works in a book format, but rather as anti- art works. As was stated in the first issue of the bulletin Internationale Situationniste, no situationist art form could exist, only a situationist use of artistic methods. This self- perception, primarily influenced by Debord, has subsequently influenced the way the two books have been critically received. In the decades that followed their creation, relatively little attention was paid to them in the increasing amount of research into the art of Jorn, the political-avantgardist activism of Debord and the situationist movement. The “concept” behind the books was reduced to the theoretical framework of the situationist movement (corresponding to key situationist strategies such as “détournement”), while the material dimension of the concrete artefacts themselves was neglected. -

Het colloquium vond plaats in het gebouw van het Oostenrijks Cultureel Forum in het centrum van Praag. Bij de opening waren de volgende eregasten aanwezig: de vertegenwoordiger van de Vlaamse Regering, de heer André Hebbelinck die zich als ware stripliefhebber en -kenner ontpopte, de directeur van het Instituut van Germaanse Studies aan de Filosofische Faculteit, de heer Doc. PhDr. Milan Tvrdík CSc. en de directeur van het Oostenrijks Forum, de heer dr. Florian Haug. De heer Haug verraste ons, want hij sprak ons congres toe in prachtig Nederlands, een taal die hij naar eigen zeggen in geen twintig jaar meer had gesproken. We waren bijzonder blij dat we weer veel gasten konden verwelkomen. Aan het twee dagen durende colloquium werd deelgenomen door gasten uit Nederland en België en verder door onze collega's en studenten uit de secties Nederlands in de regio: Brno, Olomouc, Bratislava, Ružomberok, Wrocław, Poznań en natuurlijk Praag. Het programma van de Praagse Perspectieven 6 bestond uit twee delen. De eerste dag was een taalkundedag met als thema Het Nederlands van de 21e eeuw. -

Many of them, those who work for the European institutions and the private companies which cluster around them, live either in the centre of the capital city, Brussels, or else very nearby. I am constantly amazed by the fact that these people see Brussels as an exclusively Frenchspeaking city. Even Dutch people, who speak the same language as Flemings, are able to miss the bilingualism of this city, which is so obvious to me. Worse still, a great many Flemings, themselves Belgians, assume without any further consideration that Brussels is French-speaking, even though Brussels is the capital of their own Flemish Community. Can these people not see? Can they not hear? All the street name plates and road signs are bilingual, with combinations which are sometimes very original, such as ‘Schae/arbeek’ or ‘centre/um’, and sometimes almost surrealistic, such as ‘Treurenberg/Treurenberg’. Every notice in every town hall and post office is bilingual, and the counter staff have to be able to speak both languages. The metro and tram systems are completely bilingual, although some employees still obstinately refuse to understand simple phrases like ‘one tram card please’ or ‘how much does this cost?’ if they are said in Dutch. -
