VOL. 33, NO. 20 TUESDAY, MAY 17, 1994 3 SECTIONS, 32 PAGES 50 CENTS Goss earns another term in U.S. House Sanibel's own Porter Goss earned a fourth term in the U.S. House of Representatives Friday, May 13, when no other candidates stepped forward to chal- lenge him for the seat. Friday was the official filing deadline for candi- dates and when the clock chimed noon, no others had filed the necessary paperwork to run for the office. Candidates had from May 9-13 to declare their inten- tions and file the appropriate documents. Goss, a Republican who is a former Sanibel City Councilman and mayor who also held a seat on the Lee County Commission - and served as the chair- man of that board, will continue to serve the 14th Congressional District, which encompasses Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties. The only way Goss can lose the seat is if a candi- date wins election in a write-in campaign. To date, no one has indicated they would challenge the incum- bent in such a manner.
