The United States President... Air Force One is based at Andrews Air Force Base, which is three airfi elds at once: the offi cial Presidential fi eld, air force base, and civilian airfi eld. Coastal’s FMQ-19 fi xed base aviation weather station is the offi cial weather station.

The Space Shuttle... To help guide the Space Shuttle in for a safe landing, NASA asked Coastal to create a “super” aviation weather station—it has a completely redundant back-up system that operates in tandem with the primary system.

The South Pole... Working with the U.S. Navy and the National Science Foundation, Coastal modifi ed one of our standard aviation stations and deployed the fi rst ever aviation weather station to operate and survive at the South Pole Station. It was the fi rst time that automated weather for aviation support and safety was ever available. In addition to a constantly harsh environment, the South Pole can get as cold as -90 degrees!

The United States Air Force... Since 2001, 115 U.S. Air Bases worldwide have aviation weather stations built, installed and maintained by Coastal. These include CAT I, II and III bases that have RVR and thunderstorm sensors incorporated into their sensor suites. Collectively, they are operating at 99.9% up-time.

The U.S. National Weather Service... The only weather stations to survive and operate in the Hurricane Katrina impact area were the four built by Coastal. The U.S. NWS owns more than 700 Coastal weather stations in every state (RSOIS Network, PDB-1 Network, Fischer-Porter Upgrade).
