AP Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation AP Urban Water Supply & Septage Management Improvement Project Social Impact Assessment and Social Management Plans- Kalyanadurgam Executive Summary Introduction The Andhra Pradesh Urban Water Supply and Septage Management Improvement Project (APUWS&SMIP) with assistance from Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is launched by the Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) to improve service standards in water supply in 50 Corporations, which have a population of less than 1 lakh, which presently face both quantity and quality problems. This project is expected to benefit and improve the living standards of about 33 lakh populations by providing potable water at 135 LPCD. The Project will finance activities including development/ augmentation of water supplies including surface sources and 100% House Service Connections (HSC). Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) has received financial assistance from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) for the project. Andhra Pradesh Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation (APUFIDC), is the nodal agency for the Project and Public Health & Municipal Engineering Department (PHMED) is Implementing Agency. Components of Water Supply Project: The components of the Improvement of Water Supply Scheme are proposed, designed and estimated for the prospective and ultimate years of 2033 & 2048 respectively. The nearest surface water source is Sri Rami Reddy Water Supply Project. There are total 16 components proposed under drinking water supply project in Kalyanadurgam ULB, which include; 10m dia Intake well - Penna Ahobilam reservoir (Near dam), 250 KL Intermediate sump-Ramasagaram village cross road junction, Raw water pump house-Ramasagaram village cross road junction, 250 KL Clear water sump - Akkammakonda (Near temple), 10 MLD WTP - Akkammakonda (Near temple), 250 KL GLBR - Akkammakonda hill rock, 600 KL ELSR-Gravy yard-(ZONE-2), 500 KL ELSR- Dhobi ghat, Near municipal elementary school (ZONE-3), 900 KL ELSR - Marampally, Near existing GLBR (ZONE-4),300 KL ELSR - Mudigallu, Near hill down (ZONE-5), 300 KL ELSR- Vontimidde, Near existing raw water sump (ZONE-6), Watchmen quarters @Intake well - Penna Ahobilam reservoir (Near dam), Watchmen quarters @Intermediate sump- Ramasagaram village cross road junction, Watchmen quarters @WTP - Akkammakonda, Near temple, Protection wall for head water works - Akkammakonda Near temple, and distribution network 16 kms length is also proposed. Sub-project Impacts Efforts were made in this ULB to avoid and minimize negative impacts i.e., resettlement and permanent economic loss by carefully designing the proposed project alignments and consciously considering available or existing alternatives. However, the project in Kalyanadurgam involves acquiring 0.25 acres of private land from tow land owners to construct 300 KL ELSR - Vontimidde. The remaining project components are proposed to be constructed in total 4.65 acres of government land at suggested locations in the project plan.
