Directions to Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC)

The GSFC official entrance is located at the intersection of Greenbelt and Goddard Roads: 8800 Greenbelt Road, Greenbelt, MD 20771. The library is a one-half mile, 10 minute walk from the entrance.

By Car

From Washington, DC: Take the Baltimore-Washington Parkway (DC and MD Route 295) North to Greenbelt Road (Route 193). Take Greenbelt Road East for approximately 2.5 miles. Turn left onto Goddard Road to the official business/visitor entrance.

From Baltimore: Take the Baltimore-Washington Parkway (MD Route 295) South. Take the exit for MD-193/ Greenbelt/Goddard Space Flight Center. Turn left at Southway. Turn left onto Greenbelt Road and head towards NASA for about 1.8 miles. Turn left onto Goddard Road to the official business/visitor entrance.

From the Capital Beltway (I-495/I-95): Take Exit 22A (Balt/Wash Parkway - Route 295 North). Take the Baltimore-Washington Parkway North to Greenbelt Road (Route 193). Take Greenbelt Road East for approximately 2.5 miles. Turn left onto Goddard Road to the official business/visitor entrance. 2

By Public Transportation

WMATA: Take the DC Metro to Greenbelt Station (Green Line) or New Carrollton Station (Orange Line). At either station, transfer to one of two bus options which stop at the GSFC entrance: Prince George’s County, The Bus – 15X – New Carrollton Metro / Greenbelt Metro. This is a commuter express route, with limited stops, which runs every 40 minutes. Estimated AM travel time is 15 minutes from either Metro station. Estimated PM travel time is 10 minutes to Greenbelt, 15 minutes to New Carrollton. Both directions use the same stop at the Main Gate, so be sure to check the destination when boarding in the PM. 15X timetable: https://www.princegeorgescountymd.gov/DocumentCenter/View/4127. Metrobus – G14 – Greenbelt-New Carrollton Line. This local route runs every 30 minutes during rush hour, but travel time is longer than the 15X. Estimated AM travel time is 32 minutes from Greenbelt, 27 minutes from New Carrollton. Estimated PM travel time is 31 minutes to Greenbelt, 27 minutes to New Carrollton. From Major Airports

Baltimore Washington International (BWI): Take the exit road out of BWI Airport and follow the signs for the Baltimore Washington Parkway (MD Route 295) towards Washington. You will be on the BW Parkway for approximately 20-30 minutes. Take the Route 193-Greenbelt Road/College Park/NASA Goddard exit. At the first traffic light, make a left onto Southway. Make another left at the next light onto Greenbelt Road. Follow Greenbelt Road for approximately two miles. Turn left onto Goddard Road to the official business/visitor entrance.

Washington National Airport (DCA): Leave the airport on the George Washington Memorial Parkway North. Bear to the right onto I-395 North. Continue to follow I-395 North over the 14th Street Bridge into DC (Southeast Freeway). Continue straight ahead – following I-695 East to Exit 2B for DC Route 295 North. At US Route 50, this becomes the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. Stay on the BW Parkway for approximately 5 miles and take the exit for Greenbelt Road (this is just after the I-495/I-95 exit). Make a left at the stoplight onto Greenbelt Road (Rt. 193). Follow Greenbelt Road for approximately 2 miles. Turn left onto Goddard Road to the official business/visitor entrance.

Dulles International Airport (IAD): Follow the Dulles Access Road to I-495. Take the first access ramp for Baltimore/Silver Spring/Bethesda. Stay on I-495 for approximately 45 minutes. Take exit 23 (Kenilworth Avenue), when exiting you will bear to the right. Proceed to the light following signs for Greenbelt Road (Route 193). Make a left at the traffic light onto Greenbelt Road. Follow Greenbelt Road for approximately 3 miles. Turn left onto Goddard Road to the official business/visitor entrance.
