UUCE AUCTION CATALOG 2019 2019 GENERAL INFORMATION Ahead of Time Review this booklet and highlight items you want to bid on. BRING IT OR NOTES WITH YOU TO THE AUCTION. Plan to arrive by 5 pm so that you'll have plenty of time to bid, eat and visit. Doors will open at 4:45 and the silent bidding begins at 5. When You Arrive Pick up your bidder number and paper "paddle." Write your name on the paddle and turn it in when you leave the auction! Food & Drink A selection of tasty finger foods and beverages will be offered for your walk-around dining pleasure while you bid on silent auction items. Non-alcoholic drinks will be served, and wine and beer will be available for a donation. Silent Auction – Starts at 5:00 PM and Ends at 6:15 Sharp Make your bids by writing your bid number and the amount you're bidding on the slip accompanying each item on display. USE YOUR BID NUMBER, NOT YOUR NAME. The figure noted at the top of the column is the house's starting bid. The minimum raise over the previous bid is $1 unless noted otherwise. You may raise the bid on any item as often as you wish. If more than one of a particular item is being offered in the silent auction, the quantity will be noted with the description on its bidding slip. Items will be awarded to the person with the highest bid at the time the silent auction is declared ended. 50-50 Raffle Drop as many raffle tickets and $1 donations (please no pennies, nickels, and dimes – we have to count up the total quickly!) as you want into the ticket container. The person with the winning ticket splits the contents with the church! Raffles We'll have a whole table full of items on offer via individual raffles. Buy tickets, 2 for a dollar, write your name and phone # on them, and drop them in the boxes for the items you like. Winners will be drawn during the live auction. You do not have to be present to win. Live Auction – Starts at 6:30 PM Beth Pepper and Mack MacDonald will be taking the microphone as our auctioneers! Bid by holding up your bidder number until you hear your number and your bid amount officially recognized and called out. Bidding on Multiple-Winner Items Many of the items in the live auction are meant for multiple persons. In these cases, bidding will proceed as if for one winner, and the highest bidder may claim as many of the seats for that offering as desired. Then the next highest bidder will be offered the event at the price established by the top bidder, and we will proceed until all seats are claimed or there are no more bidders. As an example, say the highest bid for a seat at a dinner for 8 is $30: The winner takes 4 plates at $30 each, for a total of $120. The next highest bidder takes 2 plates for $60 total. The 3rd highest bidder declines. The 4th highest bidder then takes the remaining 2 plates for $60. So the dinner raises $240 altogether. If the available seats are not all claimed by active bidders, they will then be offered up to the rest of the group at the same price. Payment Please note: NO IOUs will be accepted! You may pay with cash, check, or credit card. See the designated cashier if you're using a credit card. Checkout and Item Pick-Up DO NOT REMOVE ANY ITEMS FROM THE SILENT AUCTION UNTIL YOU ARE OFFICIALLY IDENTIFIED AS THE WINNING BIDDER AND HAVE YOUR PAID RECEIPTS IN HAND. When you are ready to leave, give your bidder number to a cashier, who will tally the items you have bought. When you have completed the payment process, the cashier will hand you receipts for all your items. Please be patient - we want to avoid mistakes! Sign the final receipt retained by the church to assist us with post-auction bookkeeping. PLEASE SAVE ALL YOUR RECEIPTS FOR EVENTS AND SERVICES THAT YOU'VE WON SO YOU CAN KEEP TRACK OF THE RELEVANT DATES, HOSTS OR SERVICE PROVIDERS! (The latter will receive lists of winners of their events or services.) All items must be paid for and goods removed from the church the night of the auction, unless you make special arrangements with Margaret Thurston. __________________________ If you are unable to join us for the auction, you can ask a friend to bid for you or ask us to assign a proxy bidder.
