In case yes, to what extent and under what conditions. Three districts in the South-Moravian Region, Znojmo, Bˇreclav, and Hodonín, situated in the rural borderland with Austria and Slovakia represented the study area. Both geographical and sociological methods were used to gather evidence for cultural tourism in that study. Firstly, attractiveness analysis of the area defined for cultural tourism took place. Next, factors influencing the potential for cultural tourism affecting rural development in South Moravia were evaluated. Finally, synergistic relations were discussed. In the territory, many forms of tourism intersect. Based on the results, it can be stated that cultural tourism can hardly be the main driver of rural development after the decline of agriculture because the region’s economy has branched out in several directions. However, it can be an important complementary activity that yields both economic and non-economic benefits.

My folks mowed wheat here, bred horses and tasted wine, my mother and aunt knew how to paint the forefronts and plinths, they em- broidered costumes and shirts for men – so that had one for Friday, one for work day. My cousins taught me to sing wedding songs, fold petticoats and bind sheaves. During the feast or whenever there was some time, people sang beautifully. Even today, when I get there, it is like coming to a warm bed. You could say that this was a Slovácko of long time ago. Yes, it was. But it is worth seeing even now. There are chateaus, nice villages, wine cellars, some of them painted, green vineyards and hills, and sometimes even a castle. • FACES of RURBAN MOBILITY of SLOVAK ARTISTS (PRELIMINARY STUDY) Michaela Rudyjová
URBAN PEOPLE | LIDÉ MĚSTA 19 | 2017 | 2 FACES OF RURBAN MOBILITY OF SLOVAK ARTISTS (PRELIMINARY STUDY) Michaela Rudyjová Abstract: This paper focuses on the phenomenon of the mobility of artists from the city to the countryside in the context of rurbanization. It examines contemporary forms of artistic mobility that tend to be a new source of inspiration for artists, but at the same time also a stimulus for the general processes of rurbanization. The paper presents a preliminary investigation in terms of three case studies. The first one concerns Fero Guldan, a freelance visual artist, writer, sculptor, and painter; the second one focuses on Andrej Dúbravský, currently one of the most outstanding young Slovak visual art - ists; and the third case study deals with the Zaježová community, located in a widely spread-out village that attracts different forms of artistic activities. Research relied on the snowball method to extensively map the mobility of Slovak artists. The paper brings up such questions as what were the art - ists’ motives for leaving the city and moving to the countryside; if and how mobility affected their manner of artistic creation, the nature of their works of art (types of artefacts, topics, or colours), and the ways in which these works of art are distributed (for example, changing concepts of exhibitions) and received (types and attitudes of audiences); and what are the forms of artist associations (groups, communities). Even if all three of the cases have their own particularities, we can see that all but one of these attributes are changing. Painting techniques, topics, and colours have changed, as have the concepts of exhibiting art, but forms of association do not seem to be affected much by moving to the countryside.

A masterpiece was crafted by 18 ice sculptors from Lithuania, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia, this year’s main builder is Adam Bakoš. An incredible 1880 blocks of ice weighing together more than 225 tons were used to construct it. The ice house is located inside a 25-meter-diameter dome whose highest point is 11.5 meters above the ground. The main theme this year of this gorgeous, magnificent ice temple is the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in Gothic style, some of its beauty was lost in a fire on 15 April 2019. You can see in the Tatra Ice House a replica of its beautiful western façade with the three main entrances, dominated in the center by a rosette-shaped stained glass window.
