2019 aiming to capitalise on the strong performance in 2018 and this has proved successful. We continue to look at improvements as to what our memberships contain and what we can offer our members. Sponsorship proved to be a challenge and we were unable to achieve some of the targets we set ourselves. We remain positive on improvement in 2019 and look to build on the products, such as the Superscreen to drive additional revenue from this great asset. Having three AFLW games at Coopers Stadium resulted in 21,992 attending and a total spend of $109,562. Whilst the numbers attending was terrific it did fall short of expectations as we thought the momentum would continue if not build from 2017. We have two AFLW games in 2019 and this remains important in utilising Coopers Stadium and raising additional revenue. Merchandise sales were very good, exceeding our budget by more than double. A grand final win would have seen substantially more sold. We continue to feel pressure to reduce costs. We do aim to reduce unnecessary costs but we refuse to reduce the quality of our coaching and facilities. We feel that these are important to attract and retain quality people and crucial to ensure we give the supporters something worth watching. The family of NFC Hall of Famer Hubert (Tom ) Warhurst(1935-1947) presented the club with a 1930s club lace-up and three state guernseys worn by Tom during his career of 137 club and three state games. Several significant items were acquired for the collection including a gold best and fairest medallion awarded to Sydney White in 1913. The former captain and coach played 146 games from 1912 to 1925 including three premierships, and is a NFC and SANFL Hall of Famer and a member of the Norwood Team of the Century. The small gold medallion bears the mark of its designer and manufacturer Suhard & Co, the jewelry firm established by former Norwood player Lou Suhard. The club’s archival database holds records for 3,375 items including images of 1,695 objects. While the collection is housed in secure storage facilities, it is to be hoped that the current building and refurbishment work at the Norwood Oval will eventually allow many of the objects and photographs, to be displayed and enjoyed by members. The History Committee acknowledges the continued support of NFC office and ground staff. We also appreciate the assistance of Denise Schumann from the St Peters Cultural History Centre , John Eastwood from U-Store-It and Anthony Harvey for maintaining the Redlegs Museum website.
